Lawn Bowlers take Gold Medal at Senior Games

Recently, Sun City Center Lawn Bowlers Cindy Higgins and Bob Fladung participated in the Polk County Senior Games in Lakeland. They went undefeated to win the Gold Medal. Polk Senior Games provides an annual event of competitive athletic and recreational events for men and women 50 years and over. The event offers something for everyone – the serious competitor, the fun at heart, the seasoned athlete, and the physically challenged. Congratulations to the Sun City Center “Sunsetter’s” women’s tennis team for an overall win against The Apollo Beach team on Wednesday, March 27. The Sun City Center Table Tennis Club held a fun doubles tournament on March 27. Twelve members took part in the tournament. Each player played eleven games with each of the other players as their partner. Their score was totaled to see who won the gold, silver and bronze medals. Medal winners were Barry Chernock (gold), Tara Profitt (silver), and Keith Durham (bronze). Congratulations to all. A big thank you to club member Judy Lamb who set up the tournament and provided the refreshments.

Caloosa WGA 18 Hole League Championship
The Caloosa WGA 18 Hole League Championship was held on Monday and Wednesday, April 8 and 10. There were five flights in the 36-hole gross tournament. Bobbie Cesarek was the overall Champion with a score of 161. Mary Jane Stutz won for Blue tees flight I division, Joyce Stafford won for Blue tees flight II, Joan Roberge won for Green tees flight I and Patty Hersey won for Green tees flight II. A delightful reception followed the final day of play.
