Outdoor Adventure Film Series Submitted by Fred Durr

The Eagle Audubon Society of Kings Point announces it’s 30th Annual Outdoor Adventure Film Series for 2013. Each of the films is narrated by the filmmakers themselves and brings their personal storytelling styles to their travelogues. This year’s 3 films will be on the Saturdays of Jan. 26th, Feb.16th and Mar.16th. in the KP Clubhouse Borini Theater. Tickets are now available at the KPCH Box Office, M-F, and cost $7.50 for each film and $18 for the entire series. Tickets may also be purchased just prior to the 7:30 PM performances. The first film on Jan. 26th is entitled “America’s Amazing Places” and will be presented by Bob DeLoss who features locations of America’s little known travel destinations. The second film on Feb.16th takes us to an amazing Pacific island nation, once referred to as the terrible cannibal island, in “The Real World of Fiji”, narrated by Rick Howard. The final film of the series on Mar.16th narrated by Monty Brown will take the theatergoer on a comprehensive exploration of Great Britain as the sights and sounds of this oft-visited country are revealed. This special series of adventure films should satisfy the travel and adventure curiosity of almost everyone.

I am not talking about that Sun City

John Bowker spoke to the SCC Men’s Club in November and everyone assumed it was going to be about Sun City Center. The presentation was devoted to the history of Sun City, FL which is just down the road from us. John entertained all by explaining the connection between Sun City, FL and Hollywood, CA. First National Pictures produced the movie Casablanca (starring Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman and Paul Henreid) and was the company that hoped to create a Hollywood East right here in Florida. Although plans of First National Pictures did not work out and they were subsequently bought out by Warner Brothers the company that distributed Casablanca. For more information on the SCC Men’s Club contact John Armstrong, VP Membership (813) 6346434.
