Black history, Lake Ontario on speaker series menu
Grimsby Historical Society has its guest speakers lined up for February and March - historians Rochelle Bush and James Howlett.
Bush, resident historian of Salem Chapel, BME Church and Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad NHS, will outline some of Niagara’s early Black settlements and notables figures. Her presentation is Wednesday, Feb. 8.

Howlett, a noted marine historian, will highlight all things maritime along the Lake Ontario shoreline from Burlington to the Niagara River including shipwrecks, shipbuilding and ship destroying. His presentation is Wednesday, March 8.
Both meetings are set for council chambers at Grimsby Town Hall, 160 Livingston Ave., from 7:30-9 p.m. The general public is welcome to attend.
