Long is Sentinel Dispose of of Waynoka FFA unwanted medicines at courthouse Austin Long was elected as the Waynoka FFA Sentinel for 2011-2012. Austin is the son of Wayne and Kendra Long. He has two brothers, Terrance and Alex, and one sister Tayler. Austin enjoys playing his Xbox, hunting, and mowing. In school he participates in football, basketball, and weightlifting along with FFA. After high school Austin plans to pursue a career in mechanics. Austin’s involvement has really taken off in his first year as a member of FFA. Besides being an officer, he has participated in speech contests, opening ceremonies contest, and attended state convention. He also started showing pigs for the first time and really enjoys it. He plans to continue showing pigs in his upcoming years in FFA. Austin’s one main goal this year is to encourage high school students to join and inspire the younger students to one

day be a part of our great organization. He wants to show them all the great things FFA has to offer.

Unwanted or outdated medicine in pill form can be disposed of in a special mailbox at the Alfalfa County Sheriff’s office in the courthouse. No needles, liquids or inhalers, please.

of just talking,” White said. The hospital’s architect is Health Facilities Group (HFG) of Wichita and their builder Hutton Construction. White said those groups are near 70 percent complete with the design level. They are about close enough to get a guaranteed maximum price for the project, White said. He anticipates everything will be ready to go by the end of July. He expects construction to start in October. White said the project will be completed in three phases. “It will quite an undertaking,” he said. The project includes an L-shaped approximately 17,000 square foot addition to the west and north of the existing hospital. It also includes some remodeling inside the existing structure, also estimated at 17,000 square feet.
