Freestyle’s Women’s Boutique builds a following with higher-end brands and special services by anna Quinlan

fter opening three resale fashion stores over nearly 10 years, the owners of Freestyle Clothing Exchange felt there was a need for a boutique concept — a store that would focus on higher-end brands while creating a more tailored shopping experience for customers. They met that need with the Women’s Boutique, which opened in Midtown last year. The boutique caters to people who want to consign higher-end items that still hold plenty of value, like a once-beloved dress that just isn’t getting the attention it deserves. Boutique staff say that dress could be living its best life — in someone else’s closet. Plus, consigning out-of-rotation items encourages decluttering and makes space for more frequent wardrobe updates.
While the boutique features resell styles from Anthropologie, Madewell, J. Crew, and the latest athleisure from brands like Zella and Lululemon, they also facilitate consignment of higher-end labels including Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs. The Women’s Boutique was developed in direct response to needs observed from its customer base, and that attention to satisfaction is evident in many of the store’s services: Personal styling is available by appointment at no charge, including an interview to create a style profile and a fitting to determine sizing. An in-house lookbook assists customers in carrying over last season’s favorite pieces into current trends and offers

accessible ideas for incorporating the latest looks into their wardrobe. A VIP service caters to customers who are on the hunt for a specific item, with an alert whenever they receive something that matches their description. An added benefit of a more curated inventory is that it attracts customers with similar sensibilities, creating a sense of community around the boutique. Check out their monthly happy hours replete with tea and cookies (see Instagram for details). An open house scheduled for 6:30-8:30 p.m. on April 14 will take the shopping experience to new heights with live music, raffles and refreshments. 1114 21st St. Ste.
