"The Most Entertaining Item of the Evening'; which was a great achievement! Anyone who is interested in being part of this outrageous group of people otherwise known as The Boys' High Choir should see Mr McLaurin in the music room. Brad Carter

CHOIR The Choir has had an interesting year this year. We have always had trouble with numbers and unfortunately this year we did not have enough to participate in the Big Sing as the NPBHS Choir. However the Sacred Heart Girls Choir were happy for us to join as well as member from Coastal and Francis Douglas. Together we formed 'THEE CHOIR! '
This year saw a group of young men step up to the plate and take on a whole new experience. The close harmony group made up boys of all different levels proved to be a group full of many interesting surprises.

Led by the inspirational Ms Henry the young men continue to work on their new-found interest in Barber Shop . Although many of the boys had never stood under the spotlight before it didn't stop them from creating happy memorable moments from it. Dubbed as "the most free spirited" young men, the group learnt how to closely incorporate their unique voices into the music. The group hosted voices from different parts of the globe, from the island of Jamaica to the pacific islands of Fiji and Samoa and not forgetting our up-and-coming Korean beats specialist.

Each Sunday from 1 to Spm we rehearsed for the Big Sing. We started by learning the three songs 'A Grace of Peace', 'Mission Impossible', and 'The Silver Swan' which, might I add, did sound amazing. By the fifth rehearsal we decided to add some actions which would shock the audience. After hours of being interrupted in the middle of our songs and told to start again by Krissi, the Sacred Heart music teacher, we finally ended the rehearsal with PIZZA and COKE! (This was the main thing everyone looked forward to.) It was two days before the big sing and we were hyped! Our final practice was essential to make sure that all our notes were perfect and our actions were correct and spot on the beat. As soon as you know it the Big Sing was here! Our performances went very well and Lillyhad survived when I jumped over her landing on the floor five steps down off the stage, as well as Kate doing an amazing job of being shot by the rest of the choir and collapsing onto the floor during the Mission Impossible song. Overall Thee Choir did well and ended up winning

The boys also had a great experience when they got to rub shoulders with best vocals New Zealand had to offer. The boys were truly excited about the few tricks of the trade they were taught at the conference.

This year the boys have taken a first few steps towards creating a new interesting aspect of showcasing the talent amongst the pride of New Plymouth Boys High School. Many thanks to Ms Henry and Mrs Beath for the effort put in to allow the boys to discover the music in them.
