DEVELOPMENT AND EXTERNAL AFFAIRS In 2013, the development and external affairs team realized essential resources for the museum with a newly organized staff. Tracking and measuring successes became a priority, as the museum engaged more members and more national foundations. NOMA welcomed leaders in the local corporate community with the establishment of the NOMA Business Council. The Director’s Council, an invitation-only advisory group, was also created. A major award from the Gulf Seafood and Tourism Promotional Fund allowed the museum to continue to broaden its communications and marketing efforts, which led to increased visibility and public engagement with NOMA. Major gifts in 2013 supported a wide range of museum projects and initiatives. A $250,000 gift from Mr. and Mrs. H. Mortimer Favrot Jr. established the Favrot Architecture and Design

Endowment at NOMA, and $200,000 from the Ella West Freeman Foundation funded gallery renovations for the presentation of the permanent collection. NOLA.com | The TimesPicayune contributed $15,000 in seed funding to launch Mini Masters, NOMA’s newest and most ambitious educational initiative to date. Major Gift and Grant Highlights NOMA maintains an active grants program, and has secured funds both large and small to serve a wide variety of institutional needs within the past year.
