Accurate and precise detection of multiple mycotoxins
V
icam, a Waters Business and a world leading provider of mycotoxin testing solutions, offers the Myco6in1+ LC/MS/MS immunoaffinity (AI) column to enable laboratories to simultaneously determine multiple mycotoxins in food and agriculture products, with unmatched sensitivity, selectivity and speed. The Myco6in1+ column for LC-MS/MS is a quantitative method that delivers fast, accurate and simultaneous
determination of aflatoxins, ochratoxin A, fumonisins, deoxynivalenol, zearalenone, nivalenol, T-2 and HT-2 toxins. Samples are purified by the Myco6in1+ immunoaffinity column before being quantitated by LC or LC-MS/MS. It is designed to deliver precise numerical results, with a recovery rate greater than 90%. Simple, streamlined and easy-to-use, the Myco6in1+ column requires only one sample and a single pass through the column, minimising time and materials costs while improving laboratory productivity. Independent labs can now use it as a routine analysis tool because it
is fast and simple with excellent recoveries, even with the most complex of commodity matrices.

New Eco KF Titrator makes water content determination simple, safe, and reliable
M
etrohm presents the Eco KF Titrator for the simple, safe, and reliable determination of moisture content by volumetric Karl Fischer titration. This Swiss-made instrument is the ideal solution for QC laboratories that insist on premium quality with an inclusive 3-year warranty for a highly competitive price. When it comes to methods for water content determination, Karl Fischer titration is the gold standard. It is a direct method specific for water, it is highly sensitive, and it is fast and simple to use. Hence, numerous standards such as EN, ISO, ASTM, DIN and others describe volumetric Karl Fischer titration for matrices from foodstuffs to petrochemicals to paints and others. The Eco KF Titrator makes water content determination affordable and simple. Example methods are preinstalled on the instrument; users simply
select their method of choice and start it at the touch of the instrument’s screen. The titration itself is performed fully automatically, which means there is no risk of human error. Any risk of physical contact with the Karl Fischer reagents is prevented as the titration vessel is emptied and refilled at the push of a button by the solvent pump after each analysis. Working in compliance with GLP requirements is easy with the Eco KF Titrator. Comprehensive reports with user data, date and time, method used, etc. can be easily generated in PDF format. Reports can either be saved on a USB stick or printed out on a printer connected to the instrument. Not something that can be taken for granted by every vendor in this price range is that local on-site service and application support is provided by Metrohm South Africa via its offices in Gauteng, KwaZuluNatal and the Western Cape.

Determine sodium content in food simply & quickly C
urrent methods of measuring salt content in food products often determine only chloride levels, which can lead to inaccurate sodium measurements due to the presence of other chloride compounds, such as potassium chloride (KCl) in addition to sodium chloride (NaCl), likely to result in an over statement of sodium content. Similarly, alternative sodium sources may also be present that may show an under-report of sodium content. Fast and accurate results By directly measuring the harmful sodium concentrations rather than chloride levels, Mettler Toledo’s Excellence T-series titrators and dedicated EasyPlus sodium analyser provide simple, fast and accurate r esults in food laboratories and manufacturing processes.
Simple Na+ evaluation The EasyPlus sodium analyser eliminates the need for expensive complex instruments. It uses an integrated and dedicated sodium (Na+) evaluation algorithm to deliver highly accurate and repeatable results that are comparable to those achieved using more complex analytical techniques for total sodium analysis. The sodium ions are measured directly without the need for calibration. Simplified sample preparation further reduces operator time and the required standards and reagents are cheaper, safer and available as ready-touse solutions.
One instrument, many parameters Similarly, the Excellence titration T-series now includes the above features. InMotion sample changers and dosing units may be added on to achieve full automation of the method. LabX software allows connectivity for data management and direct determination of a variety of other ions. Thus, sodium, potassium, chloride and other parameters can be determined, using a single instrument without compromise.
