Fancy a break? What about a digital Sabbath? Holidays are the best time of year – whenever they fall! They’re what we all look forward to and plan our lives around. Finding the journey brain numbing? Try these ideas Are we there yet? The four most annoying words in the English language – or any other language for that matter! When you’ve been on the road a matter of minutes and your destination still feels as remote as it did leaving your house it’s the last thing parents want to hear. So, how do you keep the kids entertained? Like many things in life, it all starts with good planning. Adequate snack provision is essential – though it’s probably worth limiting liquids if you’d rather avoid toilet breaks, and you should make sure to keep the sugar count down. After that, why not think

about investing in some good audio books. There are plenty aimed at all ages, and they’re a lot less mindnumbing than some of the repetitive, drivelly songs that your dear darlings like to hear again and again and again and… so on. Colouring books, real books and toys will all go some way to keeping the peace – as will a portable DVD player/ laptop if you’re desperate. Tablets fully charged and loaded with games can be a great distraction, especially if kids aren’t used to getting uninterrupted ‘screen time’, so turn a journey into a treat with that tactic!
