Alzheimer’s support groups The Alzheimer’s Association Nebraska Chapter offers several caregiver support groups and specialty support groups in Cass, Douglas, Washington, Dodge, and Sarpy counties. These support groups offer valuable space and educational opportunities for families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or a related form of dementia to engage and learn. Admission is free Community Band Festival scheduled for Saturday, June 30 at Turner Park

T

he inaugural Community Band Festival of the Midlands will begin Saturday, June 30 at noon at Turner Park in the Midtown Crossing area of Omaha. The Nebraska Wind Symphony – Omaha’s Community Concert Band – will serve as host and perform at this event. In addition to the Wind Symphony, other performing groups will include the Papillion Area Concert Band, the Glenwood (Iowa) Community Band, the Iowa Western Community Band, the 1st Nebraska Volunteers Brass Band, the Swingtones, and the Omaha Symphonic Winds. Special guests at the free festival will be the Offutt Brass from the Heartland of America Band, stationed at Offutt Air Force Base. The ensembles will perform one after another throughout the afternoon, in a traditional family-friendly, music-in-the-park setting culminating with a grand finale mass band performance of John Philip Sousa’s classic, The Stars and Stripes Forever.
