General Information A leafy suburb to the north west of Hull, Cottingham is a bustling modern village claiming to be the largest of its kind in England. With a population of over 17,000, the village has a unique combination of the traditional and the modern, and is home to residents of the University of Hull and also the ancient Thursday Market on the village green. Cottingham lies under 5 miles from the centre of Hull, close to the vibrancy of the City Centre, but with a quiet seclusion of its own. A wider range of shopping and other facilities can be found in the centre of Hull and a local train service, just a short walk away in Cottingham, gives a 15 minute journey to the Hull Paragon Interchange which lies adjacent to the St Stephens Shopping Centre and the Hammonds Department Store.
