Trinity Term Co-Curricular Programme
We are pleased to offer a rich and varied programme for the Trinity Term, giving our students outstanding provision and breadth of opportunity so that they may develop the skills and qualities that will serve them both now and for the next stage of their lives. Students in Years 7-10 and 12 are encouraged to select a broad and balanced range of cocurricular activities, in many cases taking up one lunchtime activity on at least three or four days of the week. Year 11 and 13 students, who are taking public examinations this term, may select any number of activities, but are encouraged to exercise caution so that they can give sufficient time to exam preparation and rest. Similarly, students who are committed to intensive training programmes such as swimming, dance, drama, music, skiing, golf and others, are encouraged to discuss their co-curricular choices with their form tutor, and should consider carefully how many co-curricular activities they join, so that they can find a suitable balance across their various commitments.
Lunchtime begins at 12.55pm, and on the days where a student is taking up a co-curricular activity, they may select one of these: a 35-minute First Lunch Activity, 1.05pm - 1.40pm, eating lunch from 1.40pm, a 55-minute Long Lunch Activity, 1.20pm - 2.15pm, eating lunch from 12.55pm a 35-minute Second Lunch Activity, 1.40pm - 2.15pm, eating lunch from 1.15pm.
On a day where a student is not taking up a lunchtime activity, lunch is available from 1.25pm, though please note that Year 11 and 13 students have flexibility to eat at other times during the exam period. Period 5 commences at 2.20pm and Period 6 ends at 4.15pm. After School co-curricular activities typically begin at 4.30pm.
Students in Years 7 - 10 and 12 are expected to commit to their chosen activities for the entirety of the term, giving particular attention to commitment and punctuality. If, for any reason, a student is unable to attend a co-curricular club, they are expected to notify the club leader in advance. Students sign up to clubs and activities via the guidance which can be found towards the end of this booklet and we ask all students to make their selections via SOCS by the end of Wednesday 26 April 2023. Please note that activities which have the + sign are available at least twice in the week to help students overcome clashes. On occasion, it is necessary for the schedule to be amended and please note that activities which have the * sign incur an additional charge.
We offer a small number of extra one-off activities on Wednesdays at lunchtime, several of which provide additional time for an existing activity or the opportunity for time with house teams. Students are not required to sign up for these but for students who already have an activity at that time, they should be in contact with their activity leader to arrange permission to attend the one-off activity as required.
