now there are a lot of PW’s that are 45° or 44°. So the gap wedge needs to be stronger. We recommend 50°, 54°, 58° as a good combo with no more than 5° between each wedge for proper gapping.

NEGM: Explain the importance of bounce? BV: Bounce is like the rudder on the ship. It protects you as the club goes through the turf. If you don’t have enough bounce, the club will dig, leading to inconsistent shots.

NEGM: What advice can you offer a player whose wedge game is inconsistent and frustrating? BV: Get fit by your local PGA pro! I can’t emphasize that enough. Many players just grab a wedge out of the shop and go. at’s crazy! You’re using these clubs on almost every hole! We have so many models, bounces, lofts, grinds to choose from. Properly fit wedges will make a huge difference. If you can’t find a fitter, call us at 1-888-Titleist, and we’ll find a fitter in your locale.

NEGM: If a player wants to carry two wedges besides his regular wedge, what do you recommend? BV: What we’re seeing is that PW’s are getting stronger. It used to be a PW was 48°. en it became 46°, and
