juicefestival.co.uk The Big Juice Read is an opportunity for children and young people to enjoy reading and literature through creative activity, as well as being a celebration of a debut novel by North East writer Gabrielle Kent. Alfie Bloom and the Secrets of Hexbridge Castle is the story of a young boy from a town not too dissimilar to Newcastle. Life is pretty ordinary for Alfie, who lives at home with his dad, until a letter arrives telling him that he has inherited a castle, setting off a succession of events and drama as he stumbles upon the charm and magic contained within.

Circus Central will hold four special events as part of a week-long residency at The Mining Institute. Come and relish this stunning building where science and circus will combine majestically. Circus artists creating short films during the residency will encourage audience members of all ages to participate. The events will feature circus shows performed by Circus Central and the Five Ring Circus, activities and games, and live musical accompaniment from members of Holy Moly and the Crackers.

In an exciting mix of dance, theatre and silent disco technology, Boy Meets Girl follows the story of two characters and their joy, hope and heartbreak as they look for love. The show is specially created for public spaces, and lets you follow Boy or Girl and listen to the thoughts in their heads through wireless headphones while watching the action unfold.
Kim, Emma and Geraldine have been running a TV station from their bedrooms since they were 11 years old. They make an all night TV show for children who can’t (or won’t) sleep at night. But they’re getting older, and they’re running out of ideas.

Seen and Heard Juice Festival Takeover
Mapping the City is a year-long project aiming to understand the NewcastleGateshead conurbation (an urban sprawl where towns merge) as it is experienced by the region’s young people. Launching this year, the work will culminate in an exhibition at Juice Festival 2016 as part of a young people’s ‘Manifesto for the City’. Participants will work alongside practicing artists and current Northumbria University students to identify places, activities and culture which they value.
