Ford Family Leadership Sponsors Community-Wide Board Training in La Pine By T. Myers, Eagle Team, Reporter and Staff Writer When you looked around the Finley Butte Community Room at all of the people who were there to represent their individual boards at a special training hosted by the Ford Foundation, you saw your neighbors, your community leaders, community activists and hard-working volunteers who were ready to learn about how they can make a bigger difference to their beloved community! On March 23rd and 24th, Community organizations and governments met to take the two day class on Board training and Strategic Planning hosted by the Ford Foundation. From 10-4 PM both days, Board members from La Pine Chamber of Commerce, La Pine Park and Recreation District, City of La Pine, La Pine Community Action Team, St. Vincent de Paul, Gap Network, Community Kitchen, La Pine Senior Center, La Pine Planning Commission, the Newberry Eagle, and other single board members worked as teams and with other boards to

create ideas about what their organization’s mission is, whether they had a clear vision of how they could make a difference to the community, how they could create a strategic plan for their board and a long list of other items that were designed to teach the participants how to work together to accomplish goals.
