1) AGRICULTURE

Vernon County has 712 of 834 square miles in productive farmland. Vernon County is 1st in pecans and 4th in swine; both of which are shipped as far as China. The County has 76 and counting Century Farms. Included in agriculture production we have a significant impact in crop, dairy, and cattle. Vernon County contributes over $130 million in agriculture alone and the surrounding southwest Missouri area has the largest portions of Missouri’s $3.4 billion agriculture industry.

4) CIVICALLY MINDED

Vernon County boasts over 100 civic groups. We also have many philanthropic events year round. Vernon County knows how to step up to the plate and serve their community and the people within and around us with much enthusiasm, generosity, and compassion. The spirit of community has flowed into the minds of our youth who have also stepped up to the plate and and have become involved; whether it be with the Vernon County Youth Task Force, Living out Loud (LOL), and many others. The local DECA students, who won first place in 2012 International Competition, are working on two public relations plans that will positively affect the 2) CONSERVATION and HUNTING Vernon County has over 17,000 acres of Conservation land and community.
