Welcome to the Global Watch Weekly Report G4S the security firm handling the security for the 2012 London Olympics admitted this week that their handling of Olympic security was a “humiliating shambles” but refused to give up their £57million fee. The confession came as furious Members of UK Parliament (MPs) tore into chief executive Nick Buckles over the failure to supply thousands of guards at Games venues, a fiasco highlighted in the news where reports showed sites where police and soldiers had been called in to provide emergency cover after security staff hired by G4S failed to turn up. Mr Buckles was asked at the Commons home affairs select committee if the Olympics was a humiliating shambles for his firm. He replied: “I cannot disagree with you.” The £830,000-a-year boss admitted the reputation of G4S was “in tatters”. Mr Buckles said he regretted signing a £284million contract for 10,400 guards. The consequence of this is that the British Army have now been called in to help provide significant security for the games. If you think about this carefully how do you think it is possible that the UK government would allow a security firm to reach the stage where 3 weeks before the Olympics it admits that its security processes are in desperate need for support by the military and UK police. It does make one think whether this is some carefully elaborate plan for a heavy presence of military during the Olympic Games. Furthermore news that the military would also involve American and German soldiers from the United Nations forces adds to the conspiracy. In this final article looking at the run up to the London 2012 Olympics we review the incredible developments this week with the absolute fiasco over the G4S handling of security and what this means for the games. Additionally we also take a look at a recent movie with a similar theme of an “Olympic style event” embedded with overtones of a police state and mass control of the population and whether this is an omen of things to come. 4
