Top crowd for Harvest Fare

More people attended this year’s Sprig & Fern Summer Harvest Fare, and the organisers say it had a relaxed, family atmosphere. Kim Quint of Richmond Unlimited says feedback from the stall holders was all positive, and that this year’s event attracted more people than ever before. ENvIRoNMENT ACCoRD: An accord committing the Department of Conservation to maintaining the gains made by a privately backed environmental group was signed in Nelson over the weekend. The agreement with the $100 million Next Foundation was signed by conservation minister Nick Smith. CoFFEE ChAMPS: Rabbit Island Coffee Company co-owner Ali Slotemaker reached the semi-finals at the New Zealand Barista Championship in Wellington during over the weekend, but fell just short of a spot in the final. Ali wrote on Facebook page that she was “totally chuffed” to finish inside the top 12.
