ABOUT US Founded in 1956, Nelson Brothers is a leading supplier of specialty chemical products in the domestic USA and international markets. Our manufacturing facility and offices are located in West Alabama. Our central location, onsite rail access and proximity to an extensive highway system allows us to meet our customers supply chain needs. Whether it be by road, rail, marine or air. Our chemical knowledge which includes polyisobutylene succinic anhydride (PIBSA), alkenyl succinic anhydride (ASA’s) and related chemistry allows us to manufacture a broad range of derivatives using a variety of amines, polyamines, polyols, glycols, and PEG’s These products are used in numerous industries and can be customized to provide an additional advantage for our customers. CORE CHEMISTRY
PIBSA The core technology is based on the thermal reaction of polyisobutylene (PIB), maleic anhydride (MA), and a broad range of reactive chemicals to produce polyisobutylene succinic anhydride (PIBSA) and PIBSA based derivatives. These products can be used in a variety of applications including, as emulsifiers for use in the manufacture of water in oil emulsions.
PIBSI Nelson Bothers has developed the capability to manufacture polyisobutylene succinimides (PIBSI) and related derivatives from in-house manufactured PIBSA’s. These PIBSI derivatives can be produced using a variety of short and long chain amines and can be customized to meet the specific needs of our customers.
ASA More recently the company has added the manufacturing capability to produce a broad range of alkenyl succinic anhydrides (ASA) including both linear and branched variants.

OUR SERVICES

MARKET SEGMENTS
OIL & GAS Our products are used to enhance operating performance in upstream, midstream, downstream, refining, and chemical plant applications. Our team designs and manufactures products that can be applied, for example as, refinery antifoulants, flow assurance aids, and primary emulsifiers. Products can be supplied as requested and formulated in a variety of mineral oil and aromatic solvents.
DRIVELINE Nelson Brothers provides products for enhanced performance in common automotive and industrial driveline applications. Our Specialty Chemicals team designs and manufactures products applied to the most common lubricant additive packages such as gear and transmission, offering dispersancy, corrosion control and anti-rust properties.
METALWORKING Nelson Brothers provides products for enhanced performance in soluble oil and semi-synthetic metalworking fluid formulations. Our Specialty Chemicals team designs and manufactures products applied as primary and co-emulsifiers for common water in oil and oil in-water emulsions.

ENGINE OIL Nelson Brothers provides products for enhanced performance in engine crankcase applications. Our Specialty Chemicals team designs and manufactures products applied as dispersants in PCMO, HDD, Two Cycle and Marine additive packages. Our technology promotes engine cleanliness and low wear by suspending soot and sludge in oil to reduce and prevent agglomeration.
EMULSION EXPLOSIVES Our emulsifier products are stable, functional, and cost-effective products that can be applied in a wide variety of formulations, emulsification processes, geological or climatic conditions. They work with a variety of raw materials and are suitable for use with concentrated, ionic dispersed phases. Our products have been used with a wide variety of methods of emulsification, including short residence time blenders.
