Physician Health Care Visits for Mental Health and Substance Use During the COVID-19 Pandemic in Ontario, Canada Physicians across Ontario self-reported higher levels of anxiety and depression during the pandemic, according to a study recently published in the JAMA Open Network. Study findings suggest that the pandemic has led to greater mental health services used by physicians. In fact, there was a 13% rate increase per physician for outpatient visits regarding mental health and substance use during the first 12 months of the pandemic.
