A new restaurant with an old-fashioned feel. Sunset Diner will take you back to the Art Deco, sun-filled, ice-cream coloured world of Miami Beach.
AALREADY popular in Avalon after being open for a mere couple of years, Sunset Diner is bringing its American style diner to Lane Cove. With warm pastel tones, simple, clean lines, and vintage-styled fittings and furniture, Sunset Diner offers a tweaked traditional diner menu with a side of nostalgia.

Their burgers are bulky and filled with good stuff. They offer a wide selection of classic burgers including their own “The Burger” with truffle parmesan fries; and their Chicken Katsu burger with a side of broccoli bites.
Or you can opt for a fresh salad with optional extras like seared tuna or crispy chicken. Delicious griddle dogs, tasty sides and snacks, and desserts that’ll stick to your bones.
Any day is perfect for a delicious sundae or big frothing shakes - you gotta get whipped cream and a cherry on top!
Easy kids menu with all their favourites.
Meanwhile, the grown-ups can sit on a stool at the bar and sip beer, wine, or one the amazing Sunset cocktails.
Good food and great vibe.

During the COVID lockdowns, a lot of people took up hobbies. For some it was
Wa way to fill in the hours, but for others like Frosene Agathokleous that hobby became a new business. WHEN you first taste Tipsy Jam you are delighted and intrigued. It’s delicious, but there’s something else, a special zing. The mystery ends when you read the ingredients. Take the Strawberry Margarita Jam, for instance: strawberries, sugar, lemon juice, pectin, tequila…say what? Yes, that’s right - these jams are alcohol infused.
“I have always loved being in the kitchen and experimenting with different flavours,” explains Frosene. “I wanted to add a quirky twist to regular jams, so I started experimenting with alcohol infusions!”
Frosene had already been making jams and preserves as a hobby before the pandemic hit. Being in lockdown with lots of time and creativity on her hands gave her the opportunity to turn her home-made jam into a viable product.
Tipsy Jam comes in a number of tantalising flavours and is perfect for grazing platters. Frosene also makes up gorgeous gift boxes that may include jam, wine, chocolates, candles, and… another jar of jam?
It’s still a home-based start-up but you can order via Instagram:

For a town that sits beside a river, Lane
Cove has very few seafood restaurants.
However, if you’ve got a hankering for
Sthe salty taste of ocean wildlife, here are a couple of places that will satisfy that desire. POSEIDON’S CATCH SELLING both fresh and cooked seafood, this is a great beachside-style, on-the-street, fish and chips and other tasty seafood shop. A Local Business Award winner, they sell all your favourites in simple, fresh, delicious meals. Firm bright orange prawns, fresh fish, tender calamari, thick fluffy fries. Great for a quick fix or economical lunch/dinner.

FOURTH FISH CAFE AND RESTAURANT
This is sit-down dining. It’s a nice eat-in experience with indoor and outdoor areas and they’ve bought into the whole nautical decor concept hook, line, and sinker (‘scuse the pun). The unusual name is derived from the chef’s desire to create four new specials each month. The varied menu includes oysters, prawns, soft-shelled crab, octopus, mussels and other delights for entree/ share plates, and several fish species for main. If you’re with a non-seafood lover, the restaurant also offers beef, pork and chicken alternatives.

LANE COVE SUSHI BAR
This is definitely the kind of place you go to with a group of people because you’ll want to be able to order lots of different dishes. The sushi platters look amazing and are presented really nicely. They offer a great selection of sushi and sashimi, bento boxes, tempura, Japanese salads, interesting entrees, and mains served with rice. Plus udon, ramen and authentic Japanese beer.
