Honoring Those Who Serve

Business & Marketing Induction

Sixty MacArthur High School business and marketing students were inducted into the New York State Business and Marketing Honor Society during the school’s third annual induction ceremony. Requisites for membership in this prestigious society include academic excellence in business and marketing classes, as well as a student’s display of merit, character, leadership and service. Town of Hempstead

Councilman and keynote speaker Gary Hudes told the story of William H. Macy to illustrate how important it is to set goals and overcome bumps in the road to achieve a goal. “You are here for a reason,” he stated. “Set goals. Don’t quit and worry about the speed bumps along the way in achieving those goals.” Society President Justin Rosado described the members’ philanthropic endeavors, which included a blood drive, coat drive, donations to the John

Theissen Children’s Foundation and the Don’t Text and Drive campaign. Honor society adviser Nicole Savage then led the inductees in the society’s membership oath, while Secretary Matthew Bellacosa and Treasurer Mia Katz led the induction. The Levittown School District would like to congratulate the inductees on this academic accomplishment. Photo provided by: Elizabeth Sobel, Syntax

During the 17th Annual Recognition Night for Community Service, a banquet hosted by the Levittown Public School District at the Gerald R. Claps Career and Technical Center, community volunteers were honored for their tireless efforts and hours of service. In his opening remarks, Levittown Superintendent of Schools Dr. James J. Grossane thanked those in attendance for their support of the school district’s educational programs. He also noted that despite its population of approximately 50,000 residents, Levittown remains a tightly knit community. “Everyone sitting here knows that by working together, it makes us a close community.” Board of Education President Michael Pappas
