Tucked away inside the Medical Arts Building on the Medical Center of Trinity campus on State Road 54, is a 7,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art preschool academy, Excel Creative Learning Academy (ECLA). Providing a safe and interactive learning environment, ECLA’s teachers aim to engage, enrich and empower the lives of their students. The Academy’s dedicated Director, Erika Mahoney, has a background in early childhood education and is a Florida state licensed teacher for grades kindergarten through sixth grade. Erika came on board at ECLA before the facility opened its doors to students three

years ago so she truly has been able to see her original vision for the school come to life. ECLA offers full preschool programs for babies as young as six weeks old to children through age five. A Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) provider, ECLA also provides a before and after school program for Trinity Elementary students. As parents, we want to know that our children are safe at all times. ECLA provides a very secure environment. After signing your child in or out each day using a fingerprint scan, you must also use your fingerprint to enter into the children’s area of the facility – an additional precaution on top of the buzz-in front entrance – to ensure children’s safety.

Donna’s Cleaning Angels Celebrates 25 Years of Brilliant Success By Julie Kanehl From the first moment that people talk on the phone to Office Manager Maria at Donna’s Cleaning Angels, they realize this is no ordinary cleaning service. Professional, knowledgeable and personable, Maria is ready to answer any questions you may have about Donna’s Cleaning Angels and the stellar cleaning services that have built the company into the success that it is today. Maria is the “right hand” of owner Donna Ferrante’s, whose commitment to excellence in every aspect of her business has brought her company to a new pinnacle of success: To celebrate the 25th Anniversary, the company is launching a fleet of Donna’s Cleaning Angels vehicles. Wow! 25 Years Strong! “I can’t believe 25 years have gone by,” says Donna. “This took a lot of dedication…tremendous dedication.” She adds, “I’ve seen a lot of cleaning services come and go, but

10

Donna’s Cleaning Angels provides reliable, detailed cleaning for homes and offices - call today to schedule a free estimate we are here for the long term. Now we are bigger and better than ever. Twenty-five years later, we have 25 employees and are the number one cleaning service in Tampa Bay. I am so excited I still have a lot of the same customers for over 20 years!”

One long time client called to congratulate Donna and said, “You and your business are not getting older, you’re only getting better.” Donna Ferrante is a woman so dedicated to her clients, her employees, and her company that she never

stops trying to improve. Even though the stellar residential cleaning services provided by Donna’s Cleaning Angels is what has built the company, Donna continues to bring more to the table for her customers, such as expanded services including carpet, tile and grout cleaning.

Trinity Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles

“In 25 years, there has been a lot of growth. We are extremely well known, and receive a tremendous amount of referrals. In order to give the customer an accurate time and pricing on their home we offer a free estimate.” When Donna meets a potential new client for the estimate, she explains the detailed cleaning that her service provides. “Every house is different,” says Donna. Maria adds, “Customers love how much time Donna takes to meet, greet and explain everything we have to offer them in person. We are branching out more into commercial cleaning. Such as, doctors’ and real estate offices, insurances agencies and other small businesses.” Always a hard worker, a strong work ethic runs in her blood from her Italian and French Canadian background, as her family in New Hampshire has owned an Italian restaurant in the mountains for almost 70 years now. Carrying on a family legacy of work and success has always been important to Donna and when she first started her business, her son, then 11, and her 8-year-old daughter followed her example and helped their mom by putting fliers

on cars at Sunday services. Reflecting on her company’s growth, 25 years of hard work and success and the addition of a fleet of Donna’s Cleaning Angels vehicles, Donna shares, “The dedication and success in my cleaning business is due to the closeness of my wonderful family. I am proud and honored to say that I am following in the footsteps of my parents and grandparents. We know how to cook, clean and we give 100 percent to the business. My only regret is that my mother, father and grandmother aren’t here alive to see all of this, but I know in my heart that they are seeing it even though they can’t be here with me.”

Trinity Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles

Licensed – Bonded – Insured Plus Workman’s Comp on All Employees What sets Donna’s Cleaning Angels apart is the fact that Donna has created a company that is fully licensed, bonded and insured, and each client can expect to have a team of Donna’s Cleaning Angels at their door each time that they have service. Donna says, “Next to your doctor, there’s nothing more personal than your cleaning service, which is why we take so many steps to protect you and make you feel at ease with our service. My clients don’t have to worry because I’ve done the homework and I carry the liability.” Donna’s Cleaning Angels always work as a team; the work gets done faster with two and it provides a level of safety and security for everyone. The teams are always presentable and friendly, wear uniforms with non-slip shoes, and come in with a large canvas kit containing all of their high quality cleaning supplies. What’s more, every employee that Donna hires is background checked, drug free and covered by workman’s compensation. This is part of the reason why Donna’s Cleaning Angels is the first choice of so many people in our area. “It’s important to me to hire people who have a clean background, and who are polite, trustworthy and dependable,” says Donna. “As a result, I can be very picky about who I hire.” She adds, “Some employees have come here that previously worked for other cleaning services, and they are amazed at the way our training procedures are. They stated that their previous employers made them watch a video and then sent

them off the very next day to clean, unsupervised. Our Angels have onthe-job training for over a month, with a field manager, before they are considered a ‘true cleaning angel.’ It takes time and effort to make sure an employee is 100 percent up to our cleaning standards. Detailed cleaning is what we are known for. Not just a run-through, wipe-down.” To ensure that every client is happy after each cleaning, Donna offers comment cards, regularly checks in with her clients, and has regular meetings with her staff. Donna is very involved in our community, and after doing this for 25 years she has met a lot of people and is proud to support other local businesses and restaurants. Together with her partner, Steve, she frequently dines at places like Central Park Restaurant in New Port Richey and Christo’s Restaurant at Mitchell Ranch Plaza in Trinity. She says, “We’ve found that we have some of the same customers,” adding, “We agree that we are fortunate to advertise in Neighborhood News & Lifestyles and we absolutely love the staff there. In fact, people have been reading my articles in the Neighborhood News for so many years that new clients will greet me like they’ve known me for years.” Reflecting, Donna says, “At the end of the day I thank God for my blessings – the great people who work for me, a great business, my health, my home, my loved ones and my family. God bless you all.” Schedule a free consultation with Donna’s Cleaning Angels at 727-942-8289.

Meet Goin’ to the Dogs’ Groomer Goin’ to the Dogs’ owner Karen Riessen has always felt a connection with animals. She moved from South Dakota to the Trinity Area over three years to be closer to her family here in Florida. In South Dakota, Karen had a few acres of land where she enjoyed caring for numerous horses and dogs. She understands the deep bond that people have with their dogs and knows that your dog is irreplaceable to you. She says, “I always loved working with dogs and when I lost

my own dog I knew I wanted to keep the companionship of dogs in my life, but wasn’t ready for another of my own.” Karen decided to go to school for grooming so she could continue caring for dogs, while building a business that allows her to offer convenience and personable service to people, too. “I love this work!” says Karen. “I get to love on everyone else’s dogs and provide a service that I enjoy doing. It truly is rewarding to work with pet owners and their dogs in a setting that is calm and relaxed.” Karen takes great pride in building relationships all of her customers and their dog or dogs. Her goal is to

keep every customer happy and continue to provide personal care regimens the same dogs throughout their life. Karen says, “I chose to go mobile because of the one-on-one attention it allows me with each dog. It makes the dog happier, the owner happier, and me happier.” Grooming at its Best The Goin’ to the Dogs Mobile Grooming van is a groomer’s dream shop! It is a self-contained salon on wheels that is completely customized to accommodate all size dogs, with a place built-in for everything Karen needs to pamper and groom your dog. Air-conditioned in the summer

and heated on the rare cold days, so your dog and their groomer are always comfortable. Your dog’s safety and comfort is a top priority for Goin’ to the Dogs Mobile Grooming and each appointment begins with a consultation, so Karen can best understand and meet the needs of your pup. She is thorough in her evaluation and takes the time to listen to any concerns or special requests that you may have. Other than being much more convenient than traditional grooming visits, there are many reasons going mobile is a good choice for your dog. For one, you don’t have to drive your dog anywhere – so no chance of car-

Trinity Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles

sickness, no hassle with traffic while you drop off and then pick up your dog, no hair to vacuum up later, none of that! Karen comes right to your door, so you can easily walk your dog out to the grooming van in your driveway and continue on with your day. Karen provides a stress-free environment for your dog, too. Goin’ to the Dogs Mobile Grooming is cagefree and Karen hand-dries each dog. Cage dryers can stress dogs out especially if they are at a big grooming shop where nervous barking dogs are caged waiting to be groomed or picked up. Unless you have two dogs that you wanted groomed and request that they stick together, Karen only has one dog in her van at a time. This way, she can give your dog a lot of attention and build a trusting relationship with him or her. Karen makes the grooming experience calm and enjoyable, seeing to it that your dog is well taken car of, relaxed, and tail wagging happy. Goin’ to the Dogs is completely self-contained; using its own water and electricity means you won’t have to use yours. And the van is pristine clean! Between each grooming, Karen sterilizes and cleans everything thoroughly. When you think spa or salon, mobile grooming is probably not what first comes to mind, but when you see Karen’s setup, you’ll be wowed! Take a virtual tour of the Goin’ to the Dogs Mobile Grooming

salon on wheels by logging on to gointothedogsmobile.com or check out the amenities when Karen arrives at your door. Grooming services include: Bathing with the appropriate shampoo for your dog’s skin and coat type; tearless facial shampoo; ears are cleaned of hair and dirt; pads are clipped of hair, nails trimmed and smoothed; sanitary areas cleaned; hand drying (no cage drying); deshed and removal of excess undercoat; styling specific to breed profile or customers specifications; and of course, the finishing touch of bows, bandanas and even doggie cologne. Isn’t it time for that shaggy pup of yours to be groomed for a head-topaw soft, lustrous coat? Call Karen at Goin’ to the Dogs and become one of her happy customers. Come Join the fun at The ToyMakers of East Lake’s Open House & Silent Auction! By Julie Kanehl Mark your calendars, and spend the morning with The ToyMakers of East Lake on Saturday, November 7th, for they will be hosting an Open House and Silent Auction at the East Lake United Methodist Church just off of East Lake Road. Free and open to the public, please feel free to bring the entire family, including the little ones who will receive one of the ToyMakers famous handmade toys! The Open House includes a tour of their recently expanded toy making workshop, which is usually closed to the public, as well as an opportunity to get to know the many amazing volunteers who have turned their handiwork into good works. Everyone will enjoy the silent auction, which will include everything from one-of-a-kind, handmade items, to gift certificates to local businesses and tickets to Florida

attractions! It’s also the perfect place to check off some of the items on your Christmas list, because by participating in this awesome auction, you’re giving back to a non-profit organization whose “soul” purpose is to give to the children in our community. ToyMakers had humble beginnings, as most matters of the heart do, and was started by a group of people in Pasco County who made simple wooden toys out of their garages and gave them to local agencies and hospitals, with the purpose of helping children who could use a smile. In 2007, ToyMakers of Eastlake was founded as an outreach program by The East Lake United Methodist Church, who saw the light and the love in the mission, and donated some space adjacent to the church so that these volunteers could have a place to

call their own. Since 1982, more than 400,000 toys have been delivered to local children in need in Pinellas, Pasco, Hillsborough, and even Alachua counties. Delivering to hospitals such as All Children’s Hospital, Tampa General, Shriner’s Hospital in Tampa, and Ronald McDonald Houses, just to name a few, these toys have stories to Bob and Janet Helms and the ToyMakers of East Lake enjoy making a difference for children. tell, and a dozen kind hands have ing something to give to children helped each toy find its special child. when they are in a crisis. Reaching far beyond Florida, toys Erica Wiedemann recently said, have been delivered to children as far “I got a tour of the ToyMakers of away as Mexico, the Caribbean and Eastlake’s workshop today…So many South America in the aftermath of volunteers work to make and paint disasters, and are often delivered to the great wooden toys. I thank the local fire departments and first reToyMakers for supporting The Haven sponders, who really appreciate havof RCS and making the children

happy. Also, there are fabulous volunteers who remake bikes for children and adults.” A third ministry is their bicycle program. ToyMakers of East Lake accepts used bicycles and refurbishes them! Once the bicycles are lovingly fixed, they are given to people in need- both children and adults! Working with local schools and other charitable organizations such as agencies assisting homeless working adults, they even help send used and refurbished bicycles to Haiti and other areas in need after a crisis, so that those people can get work and provide for their families. Current President of the ToyMakers of East Lake Board, Bob Helms, is like many of the volunteers who thought they’d come by one Saturday a month, but fell in love with the mission, and in doing so, his wife, Janet, joined the cause as well! Today they are both on the Board, hoping to help lead ToyMakers of East Lake to help even more people. By raising awareness for their mission, and by taking donations from local businesses for their upcoming silent auction, the Helms and the other volunteers at The ToyMakers of East Lake have one goal: To bring smiles to children. When you come to the Open

House and Silent Auction, on the morning of November 7th, you’ll have the opportunity to see the new addition to their shop! Recently expanded to their many volunteers, the community came together beautifully to help ToyMakers build the additional space they needed. They needed it because they’ve been super busy! Bob says, “The Toymakers of East Lake organization now has over 200 volunteers and made over 10,000 toys just last year.” Volunteer! You Can Make Toys Too! Over the years, men and women of all ages have enjoyed volunteering at ToyMakers of East Lake. While the machinery that has been donated over the years by volunteers and local organizations is quite impressive, you don’t have to know how to operate complicated machinery to help make wooden cars, helicopters, puzzles, airplanes, walking toys and more. First: These aren’t just toys. These are handmade, sanded to perfection with the purpose of protecting little fingers. These are “everything is going to be ok” toys that are lovingly painted by volunteers like you and I who want nothing more than to comfort a child. These are what the doc-

tors, nurses, officers and first responders give to children who are scared or sad. And may I add, that they are absolutely beautiful toys. Made with love and hand-delivered to local hospitals and first responders in small batches, this non-profit organization has created something that has touched the lives of hundreds and hundreds in our area by simply doing what they love to do. Experienced and knowledgeable in their craft, ToyMakers has learned how to take many things into consideration, from making sure that they are painted with lead-free paint (donated by Sherwin Williams), to making sure there aren’t any small parts, rough parts or parts that can’t be washed! Did you know that plush animals cannot be given to children at many hospitals because they cannot be easily sanitized? The toys that ToyMakers provide, is an answer to so many prayers, and many people treasure their toys for years and years. Bob says, “Toy Makers are people like you and me! You don’t have to be able to work complicated saws to be a volunteer here. We have one lady who really enjoys tracing patterns onto the wood, and we have other ladies who love to paint daisies on the Daisy cars.” He adds, “Whatever you can do, there’s a way you can help!”

If you’d like to volunteer, it’s easy! You can check out their website, or email them! They often have new volunteer opportunities on Saturday mornings at the shop. When you’re there, you’ll hear many of the volunteers talk about how being a ToyMaker has changed their lives, you see, for some this mission has given people a new purpose! For some, it has been having a renewed purpose after retirement, while for others it has been finding a whole group of friends they didn’t know they were there waiting to meet them. Additionally, ToyMakers of East Lake is proud to partner with students who are part of the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program, which provides scholarship opportunities for students in our area who have very bright futures, but need help financially. These students need volunteer hours as part of the program, and many of the students who volunteer for ToyMakers of East Lake have found themselves coming back once their volunteer requirements have been met! They become volunteers for the love of helping others instead of just for credit! Jim Dyer put it best when he recently said, “Great people with a great mission!” The ToyMakers of East Lake holds its Open House and Silent Auction on Saturday, November 7th, 2015 from 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. at the East Lake United Methodist Church located at 2801 E Lake Rd. S, Palm Harbor, FL. The ToyMakers of East Lake have a workshop located at 2690 Tanglewood Trail in Palm Harbor, FL, behind the East Lake United Methodist Church. If you would like to donate, sponsor or volunteer, please visit their website at www.toymakersofeastlake.org or email toys@toymakersofeastlake.org.

nesses. With the evolution of computers in the past two decades, ABCO has transitioned with the times and now creates complex documents, marketing products, business guides and other business products. Since ABCO’s beginning, Harry has increased his own knowledge in the printing and technological business world in order to provide his customers and local businesses with the services of a full service printing company that stays true to its humble beginnings and the integrity of real customer service. Clearwater customer J.M. says,

“The ABCO staff was a big help in setting up my new business. They offered many options in my printing, which saved a lot of money. Their designers were easy to work with and did some high quality work.” Harry likes to say, “We are much more than ink on paper!” ABCO’S business model is completely client-focused and tailored to each client’s business. Harry says, “Our approach to a client is to evaluate their printing needs and offer the most return on their printing budget. Having the designers, press operators

and the best customer service people in the industry has allowed us to service the Tampa Bay area as well as throughout the United States and Florida with world class business. Many of our customers have been with us since the beginning. Having made some very good decisions in hiring good employees and adding the latest in printing equipment has allowed us to become one of the larger printers in the Tampa Bay area.” Customer Donna Maine-Smith, an artist and graphic designer, says, “We’ve used ABCO Graphics and Printing for over ten years and I have to say, they’re second to none! Excellent service, fast turn-around, affordable prices, and attention to quality – ABCO Graphics and Printing puts the customer first and works hard for your business. I truly can’t say enough about this wonderful company! Thank you ABCO!” New at ABCO: Direct Mail Services That Work! Most recently, ABCO has enhanced their direct-mail services, a wonderful tool for small businesses looking to reach their target demographic. Harry says, “Our business is

transforming into more of a marketing and direct mail company, in addition to printing. Our direct mail services have been very successful with real estate agents looking to showcase what is available on the market in certain neighborhoods.” Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) is offered through the United States Postal Service, which ABCO works with exclusively. EDDM makes it very affordable for small agents to send direct mail to a targeted demographic. Basically, you choose the route you want to send out your direct mail marketing to and the postal service delivers to your specific target area. It doesn’t get much easier than that, especially when you utilize the ABCO marketing and design team’s services to create your own personalized direct mail fliers! Harry says, “Our direct mail design and EDDM services have been so successful that the post office has began treating us like customers because we are sending so many people their way with direct mail marketing!” Realtors love the EDDM concept because they can select and choose specific neighborhoods that they want to showcase houses in and it costs less

Trinity Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles

than sending a traditional postcard! Jeff Meyer, owner of Star One Realty has enjoyed the response he has gotten from ABCO’s EDDM marketing program. He says that the fact that he can target a specific neighborhood at the lowest postage rate makes direct mail extremely cost efficient, and he is getting calls within days of the mailings. If EDDM services are working great for Realtors, then it stands to reason that it will be an effective and more affordable way for any type of business looking to reach a specific area with a mailer rather than blanketmailing an entire zip code. ABCO’s Expanded Services Covers All Your Promotional and Marketing Needs! Since moving in 2001 from its original location in Holiday to the new, larger facility in Odessa, ABCO has been able to serve more businesses and offer a larger range of services. Harry says, “With the move, we were able to increase our product line to include direct marketing and mailing, promotional products and graphic design, as well as all the factors of commercial printing. That includes brochures, business forms, booklets, letterhead and envelopes, business cards, labels, newsletters and menus. We are really able to service businesses with all of their marketing and printing needs. I have a wonderful graphic design team on staff that can help you get the perfect look before printing

hard copies, which helps give people peace of mind.” If you are looking to grow and expand your business through print marketing, need help with print ready web sources, or just need some basic printing services, ABCO Graphics & Printing is your place. ABCO is a local company with a knowledgeable and friendly staff, and the work performed is completely professional, making them a top choice for businesses throughout Tampa Bay. In addition to meeting the printing and graphic design needs of businesses in the community, ABCO supports many local charities, schools, churches and nonprofits. ABCO Graphics & Printing has been significantly involved in the area’s Rotary Clubs and Chamber of Commerce events for 26 years. Twice, and most recently in 2013, ABCO Graphics & Printing was awarded Small Business of the Year. There are a lot of reasons to choose Best of Philly Cheesesteak House in New Port Richey – the great specials, the great food, the convenience of pick-up or delivery when you’re rushing around – but the best reason to eat at Best of Philly is that it is delicious! Traditional Cheesesteaks Just Like Philly! Best of Philly Cheesesteak House gives you the best in service, taste, flavor and portion size. He cooks what he loves and has visited the best-of-the-best cheesesteak eateries in Philly many times to compare his to theirs, making sure his customers are getting authentic Philly taste. “The biggest compliment of all is when people get off the plane from Philadelphia and come straight here for our food,” says Mike. One customer, who calls himself Philly Joe says, “I’ve lived in Florida for 25 years and have tried a lot of socalled Philly cheesesteaks. This is by far

the best I’ve had. The rolls are from Philly, the meat is from Philly. They make them big as well. What you get at Best of Philly would be considered double meat anywhere in Philly. I’m telling you they are packed. The best referral I can give you is that I have a friend that visits from Philly and he brings these cheesesteaks back home with him!!! How’s that for a testimonial? I’ve referred many people there and none have been disappointed. Take it from me, I was born and raised in Philly.” The perfect Philly cheesesteak starts with a soft, delicious roll and as any cheesesteak lover knows, the roll is as important as the filling. The original Philly cheesesteak, as served in Philly, is either with or without onions. I like mine with mushrooms, peppers and onions. Mike says this is the Floridastyle cheesesteak, so I guess it makes

OCTOBER 2015

sense that it’s this Florida girl’s favorite! You can choose from three kinds of cheese. Mike says most customers prefer white American, but provolone is available and even Cheese Whiz for those South Philadelphians! Hoagies, Wings & Hand-Cut Fries, OH MY! “People love our cheesesteaks so much that they rarely try anything else, but we have so many delicious choices on our menu,” says Mike. “I always try to encourage our regulars to try something new, but that is a hard battle to win once they have tasted our Philly!” In addition to the best Philly cheesesteaks around, Best of Philly Cheesesteak House has something else you’ll love too like the cold hoagies and hot sandwiches, bone-in wings, boneless wings, burgers and a variety

of appetizers. One of my favorite treats at Best of Philly Cheesesteak House has to be what I call the “gone-in-a-minute” hand-cut fries. They are a perfect side for any club sandwich or burger, or just on their own with a side of gravy or hot cheese. Yes, gravy for your French fries is the ultimate comfort food! Pair those fries with any one of the delicious burgers, hot sandwiches, cold subs or even a variety of appetizers and you’ve got yourself the perfect meal! Mike says, “You really can’t beat our burgers either. They are cut in half, stuffed in a soft amoroso roll and piled high with your favorite toppings!” You can order anything on the menu for pick up or delivery (within the delivery area), and everyone in the family will love the food. Best of Philly has expanded their kids’ menu to include a 4-inch Philly, chicken fingers, grilled cheese, cheeseburger, hot dog and the all-time favorite mac’n’cheese bites. Wollinka, Wollinka & Doddridge, Growing with the Community Since 1971 By Julie Kanehl If you’re from around here, you’ve heard of Wollinka, Wollinka & Doddridge P.L. (WW&D), a firm that excels at providing exceptional counsel regarding estate planning, elder law, real estate law, corporate matters, asset protection, and tax reduction strategies. Growing with our community, they recently opened their brand new, freestanding office in Trinity, located at 10015 Trinity Boulevard. This new location is to be their main office, with two other locations in the Tampa Bay Area, a fully-staffed office in Palm Harbor, and a satellite office in the Carrollwood area of north Tampa. As our area continues to grow, WW&D has plans to further their growth as well. In fact, they are hoping to staff their office in Carrollwood sometime next year. With the main objective being to provide superior legal counsel to their clients, it

34

would only seem fit that the law firm would be committed to expanding their growth. Counsel, Care & Integrity David J. Wollinka, Esq. has lived here since he was a boy, when his father Jerome E. Wollinka started Wollinka & Wollinka in 1971. Graduating from Tarpon Springs High School before attending The University of Florida where he graduated with honors, Attorney David Wollinka earned his law degree from UF’s College of Law with a Juris Doctorate Degree in 1986, before joining his father at Wollinka & Wollinka in 1987. A family man and father of five, Attorney Wollinka can truly appreciate the value and importance of long term planning. Friendly, dedicated and experienced, David Wollinka and his staff go above-and-beyond to make each client’s concern, their concern. Ryan A. Doddridge, Esq. grew

Joining the firm in 2011, Attorney Doddridge is a happily married father of two boys, most likely future Florida Gators themselves. Ryan is active with many legal and local associations including the Trinity Rotary Club, the Clearwater Bar Association, West Pasco Estate Planning Attorneys Asso-

ciation, West Pasco Real Estate Council, and the Suncoast Guardian Association. He also serves on the Board of the North Suncoast Estate Planning Council and was recently installed as President-Elect of the West Pasco Bar Association, which will be celebrating its 50th year of service in 2016. Attorney Wollinka says, “Our firm has been a member of the West Pasco Bar Association for 45 years. My father

was a past president.” One client recently said, “Ryan and the entire staff at Wollinka, Wollinka and Doddridge are excellent. The services they provide are thorough, detailed and prompt. They remove all of the concern and frustration that many people have when dealing with legal matters.” Estate Planning, Elder Law, Probate & Trusts While it’s not always the most comfortable of subjects, estate planning is one of the most important conversations to have. The lawyers and staff at WW&D are experienced at handling these kinds of delicate matters. The truth of the matter is, you can’t afford not to have a plan, and of all the legacies to leave behind, having your plan in place could be the greatest peace during a difficult time. Far more important than dividing wealth and property, estate planning extends to guardianship, and what will happen to your children if the unimaginable were to happen. WW&D also provides services with regard to Medicaid, incapacity planning, and special needs trusts, among other services. Whether you’d

like to make a simple will for your family, you would like to create a trust for your children, or you have a complicated estate to divide, Wollinka, Wollinka & Doddridge can help you protect your wishes, your dignity, your legacy, and even minimize stress for your loved ones. Corporate Matters & Asset Protection If you have your own company, it’s important to know how to protect it, and to separate personal finances from your business finances, as many good people have lost more than their business from a lawsuit stemming from something that happened at their company. It’s best to be prepared, and to have attorneys like Wollinka, Wollinka & Doddridge at your side. Representing many businesses in the area, WW&D guides them by using strategic planning elements to prepare for the future, engaging in contract analysis, the preparation of important documents, negotiations, and if needed, representation. While there’s no way to predict the future, they can help you protect your assets. In addition to the attorneys at

Trinity Area Neighborhood News & Lifestyles

WW&D, the staff is also knowledgeable and dedicated to the firm’s clients. Most of the staff has been with WW&D for long tenures, some for decades. Whether you’re looking towards the future, protecting what you have, or building a business, it’s important to have a reputable law firm by your side to represent you, protect your assets, and guide you through the complicated laws of our State. Choose experience, integrity and dedication: Choose Wollinka, Wollinka & Doddridge.

Under Armour Co-Ed Flag Football League Beginning this winter in Tampa is a nationwide co-ed flag football league sponsored by Under Armour and Brothers In Arms Foundation. The flag football league was created to promote a competitive, confidence-building, non-contact football experience for all skill levels. In charge of the Tampa chapter is John Kaleo, former Tampa Bay Storm quarterback and owner of one of the top quarterback academies in the country (John Kaleo QB Academy). John says, “Unlike other flag football leagues, what made me gravitate to Under Armour was the format we are using; a 7 on 7 structure designed to delop each player’s skills. This means there is no pass rush and just a sack count, which allows the QB to set his feet and deliver the ball properly while receivers and defenders can develop the timing needed in the passing game. We also transition the kids from the 6 on 6 format into the high school 7 on 7 game through grade levels, so the 7th-8th graders will play under the HS 7 on 7 rules.” When asked what he enjoys most about this league John said, “I enjoy watching the development of our youth in the athletic arena as they learn to compete

38

while still showing sportsmanship. We also want to bring back the honoring of our Champions and rewarding them with medals and trophies, instead of everyone getting a medal for participation. The other thing that is neat about our league is we play our games on Friday nights so we have food vendors and music present for our families. This creates a fun atmosphere for everyone.” With most leagues running on weekends I’m sure parents will be happy with the Friday night schedule and keeping the rest of the weekend open for any other family activities. The league will consist of these core values and principles: • Competitive Co-ed league for grades K-8th • 6v6 format with sack count • HS 7v7 format for grades 7th-8th • 7 weeks of Games plus Playoffs • 9 players per team so everyone plays • “Friend/Team” request • Online shopping for discounted Under Armour apparel • Food & Entertainment for Families

“Excel CLA” Continued from page 1 Even students with peanut allergies can feel safe at Excel Creative Learning Academy, since it is 100% peanut free. The staff is selected for educational background, experience and training, and all are background checked, which is a great comfort to parents. While I visited the campus I noticed that students learn through hands-on projects in their interactive, enriching classrooms. Teachers use state-approved Creative Curriculum and SMART Board technology to help each child’s education and character development. Curriculum Designed to Engage, Enrich & Empower Infants as young as six weeks can begin their fulltime care at Excel Creative Learning Academy, but with only eight children in the class with two teachers, there often is a waiting list for these coveted spots. Once the children are in their toddler years, the staff works with parents as they see children are ready to move up to a class that is developmentally appropriate. The younger two-year-old class,

40

called “Investigators,” has two teachers for 12 students and the older twoyear-olds called “Adventurers” have two teachers for 18 students; while the three-year-old “Voyagers” class has two teachers with a maximum of 20 students. Children in the Investigators, Adventurers and Voyagers classes have the option to attend Tuesdays and Thursdays (two days as week), Monday, Wednesday and Friday (three days a week), or full time (five days a week). In ECLA’s four-year-old class, the “Innovators,” the students are often found learning in small group rotations, taking virtual field trips on the class SMART Board which engages visual, auditory and kinesthetic learners, and interacting with circle time activities. A teacher with a bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education teaches the VPK class. Erika says, “There’s a focus on developmentally appropriate early literacy and math skills in our four-year-old class. Our job is to get them ready for kindergarten.” VPK students can attend half-day, 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., or the Extended Day hours from 6:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Excel Creative Learning Academy’s teachers have been trained on

Interactive letters allow students hands-on opportunities to express their thoughts. Here a student wrote “juice” the Souns letter sound curriculum, which starts in the infants’ room where children learn letter sounds incidentally as they learn the names of everyday objects. As the children progress, they start putting the large figured letters together on interactive mats to create words phonetically. The Souns curriculum at ECLA provides an authentic letter and sound

ECLA Keeps Parents Informed Excel Creative Learning Academy believes that developing and encouraging partnerships with families is an essential part of their success. Daily notes go home with children, which include sleep habits, what they

ate, and other notes. Another way ECLA quickly communicates with parents is through notes that are on the small computer touch screens that families use to check their child in and out each day, as well as monthly newsletters. Parents also can use the computer touch screens to run their

credit card for a convenient paying option. Digital daily notes are being piloted by the VPK class, which allows parents to learn through email or a phone app about their child’s day. Student portfolios are now digital, too, so their growth can easily be monitored. Parent and teacher communication is encouraged through email; so all teachers have a work email address where parents can contact them with questions, concerns or compliments. Three and four-yearolds take home learning packets that help keep parents aware of what sight words the children are working on, and it also includes an activity to be completed each week with their family that reviews what has been learned. These types of family connections, homework, and daily notes help parents feel connected to their little one’s day while away from you.

Engaging & Enriching Outside Play ECLA’s facility has a beautiful outside play area with a drinking fountain and shade sails to lower the temperature on warm days. Three raised gardens provide the students with learning opportunities as they grow vegetables, herbs, and watch chrysalises morph into butterflies in the butterfly garden. For safest playtime, one group of children at a time is allowed to use the private playground, and even the younger children get outside time through stroller walks starting at six months old. Parent Kim Stawecki says, “Enrolling our children in Excel is one of the best parental decisions that my husband and I have made. As a working parent, I felt good knowing that my children were spending their days with you [Erika] and your staff.”

During my visit at Excel Creative Learning Academy, the children were actively involved in age-appropriate activities, and were having a great time! The facility was very clean vvand engaging, but also secure. Excel Creative Learning Academy’s students are happy and seem to be thriving in a school designed to engage, enrich and empower. Excel Creative Learning Academy is located in Trinity at the Medical Arts Building on the Medical Center of Trinity Campus, 9332 SR 54, Suite 204. ECLA is open Mon.–Fri., 6:30 a.m.–6:30 p.m. For more information about ECLA’s programs, including the Parents Night Out and Parents Day Out, call (727) 372-4977, log on to ExcelCreativeLearningAcademy.com, or visit their Facebook page.

“Dr. Machhar” Continued from page 1 healthcare insurance, Dr. Machhar is the doctor for you. While partnering with one, specific insurance provider may seem unique, it really gives Dr. Machhar the opportunity to limit his practice to the amount of people that he knows he can give his all to. As a result, patients receive the time with the doctor that they deserve, and patient visits aren’t limited to a certain amount of minutes or to a certain code. Instead, patients receive as much time with the doctor as they truly need. Dr. Machhar says, “It makes it a lot easier to receive care because we know the network so well and we’ve established relationships with the doctors that we know to be excellent providers.” Specializing in caring for the older generation, Dr. Machhar is very experienced at treating a variety of medical conditions that they often face, such as diabetes, cardiology related concerns, osteoporosis, lung disease, high blood pressure, arthritis, and more. Dr. Machhar is said to be thorough and experienced without

42

being an alarmist. Listening to his patients’ concerns, he doesn’t send people for tests they don’t need, or make people wait needlessly for results. He’s very considerate of his patients. That said, Dr. Machhar is very diligent about offering screenings for skin, colon, prostate and breast cancer, as well as computerized testing for emphysema and the other smoking-related and lung disease issues that so many older people face today. A patient named Leonard, said, “I am not a young puppy. In my younger years I used to move to a new city every few years for business. And therefore have had a lot of doctors during my life. Dr. Machhar has been my doctor for about the past 8 years now. He has provided the best medical experiences that I have ever had with a doctor. Last year I moved over an hour away from his office. I am so impressed with him that even with a 3hour round trip drive to see him, I still use him as my doctor. I would not consider going to any other doctor even though they would be closer and more convenient. He treats me like a good friend not like a number out of all his patients. After he has finished with any medical exam or treatments he spends the next 5 or 10 minutes

just sitting with me and talking with me. He is never in a rush. I really enjoy him. His medical diagnosis of any problem that I have had was spot on. He has so much experience that his recommended treatments have always been right on the money. I have never waited more than 10 minutes in his waiting room. Everyone at his office is so friendly.” Patient, Hal Dendy, said, “My wife, Judi, and I have been patients of Dr. Machhar for many years and we have the greatest respect for him. Dr. Machhar is very caring and listens to our physical and emotional problems. He is exceptional in understanding and very compassionate to our needs. Dr. Machhar’s wife is very understanding to our Humana needs and is very helpful to us in obtaining the neces-

sary referrals that we may require.” If you are a Humana member that is looking for a physician they can trust, look no further than Dr. Prakash Machhar. A Board Certified medical doctor with more than 25 years of credibility and experience, Dr. Machhar and his staff are ready to help you feel your best and help you live a long, healthy life. Dr. Prakash Machhar is located at 6811 SR 54 in New Port Richey in the Green Brook Medical Center. Office hours are 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. on Mon. – Fri.
