My Experience As A Student Teacher

Today's classroom is one of variety and challenge. I have seen first hand, in the classroom I observed this semester, the impact of various children's backgrounds. There were second graders from every walk of life and this diversity impacted how they interacted with each other, and, on some occasions, how the teacher interacted with them. When working with a group of children such as these, the educator must be aware of every aspect of diversity in their classroom. Diversity may come in many forms: academic achievement, race, language, or socioeconomic differences, and it may be difficult to address each of these needs individually. Regardless of these challenges, a successful teacher will have the ability to create an atmosphere which will turn the student's perceived "limitations" into their strongest ability. This what will keep them determined and ready to engage with the curriculum. My experiences as a student teacher showed me that the biggest barrier that I will have to surmount is finding a way to communicate the necessary information to my students so that they will learn and even thrive in my class. This is especially true when working in a low income area where students are worried about problems that are much bigger than school: where their next meal is coming from or how much money they can earn to help their family when they go to work that night. Such larger concerns will dwarf what happens in school, making homework seem irrelevant and/or impossible. With

Over the past school year, I've started developing my own idea of what it means to be a teacher, and how I can be the best teacher to the students who walk into my classroom at the beginning of each semester. As a new teacher, who isn't much older than some of her students, being able to relate to them on a personal level becomes an important part of my pedagogy. Throughout my academic career the professors I connected with the most were those that didn't take themselves so seriously. They were open with students, and obviously cared deeply about their work. Those professors' classes became the courses I worked the hardest in, and inevitably became my favorite classes. It is their pedagogy that I strive to emulate and make my own. For me to connect with my students, it is important that I am as open with them as I can be, while still retaining the teacher persona. I believe that being honest with them promotes a trusting relationship where they feel comfortable talking to me about the issues they are having in regards to the classroom. I let them know that it's okay to be frustrated with a paper that research can be hard, that everyone gets overwhelmed; I've been there too, and am still going through it. I give them tips that work for me, and tips that have worked for other people. My students come into my office knowing I'm there to help them with whatever they need, and sometimes it's just an ear to listen while they vent their frustrations, and helping them work

Each day throughout life people learn more about themselves and about the world around them. It is everyone's goal to acquire as much knowledge as they can because it generally leads to satisfaction in their life. Experience allows to better understand oneself and the surrounding world. Faust and Michel Montaigne highlight the importance of learning from experiences and what occurs without this learning. Because of their work, learning through experiences is known to be very effective and therefore is incorporated into many teaching techniques. Gaining knowledge from experiences helps to unlock parts of the world. In his book "Faust", Faust focuses on how experiences, or lack of experiences, shape the surrounding world. Michel Montaigne writes in his essays "I am scribbling here a record of my life's experiences, which is sufficient for purposes of inward health" (Montaigne 361). He is saying that experiences are the root of being internally satisfied. Montaigne focuses on the art of law which deals with the mind and soul, along with the art of medicine which deals with experiences of the body. He suggests that these are equally importance to a person to become complete. A person needs to find the appropriate balance between these things, in order to achieve happiness and contentment. Experiences shape every element of an individual, especially how they form their thinking process. In regards to faith, experiences dictate what to believe in. Going to church, partaking in mission trip, or a death of a love one are all experiences that bring a person closer or further away from their faith. By tracing back to the origins of where one gets their faith, it shows that it is rooted and influenced by experiences. Circumstances can incorporate faith into one's life, but can also bring about doubt. Undergoing similar situations can bring up doubts and hesitation to rethink beliefs and faith. However, reason is used to come to a consensus to these doubts. Experiences play a key role in providing evidence and proof to justify facts and feelings. If a person has experienced something, that serves as their logic behind their beliefs and actions. Faith, doubt, and reason, all serve as tools to

What makes a good teacher? Essay

In my opinion, a good teacher should be one who puts her heart into teaching. This is because only by doing so will the students feel their passion and hard work. When a teacher strives hard for the students, students will put in their effort as well. If a teacher dislikes her job, goes to classes in a bad mood, her teaching would also be affected and students would not be able to enjoy lessons as well.

Another point that makes a good teacher would be his/her patience. Teachers should not get upset or even worse, give up on the students who are not so strong in their studies. Instead, they should have the patience to slowly coach them, give them extra lessons, and find different ways to encourage them. Let them know that the teacher...show more content...

It would be better if the teacher is able to find common topics to chat with the students. This would let the students feel like they can relate better to the teacher.

"You must not give up. I want to let you know that even if you're facing so many problems, and feel like there's no one to talk to, I'll be here for you. Everyone else might want to be the sun that lights up your life, but I rather be the moon that guides you through your darkest hours. Let's strive hard and work toward our goal together!" This was what my high school teacher told me 10 years ago and I have remembered it until now, and will remember it for the next 10 years and so on.

I was once a problematic kid who mixed with bad company and flunk tests. I never thought about what I was going to do the next day, what more when I grew up. Of course when I was younger, I had lots of dreams. I wanted to set up my own company, I wanted to be a teacher, I wanted to be able to drive an airplane and the list went on. But as the years went by, they became less insignificant to me and soon, I forgot every single one of those dreams and goals. I got to a new school and knew friends who smoke and took drugs. My grades started dropping from "A" to fails. But I did not care. I could not be bothered by then. I went partying every night and got home drunk. What was the point of studying? My parents are

Essay: A Good Teacher...

Standard 1: Development, learning, and motivation–

A teacher has his or her own style or way of motivating their students. Motivation plays an important part in a student's success of learning and development. There are times when teachers spend more time with their students than most parents do, thus, a teacher is fundamental in shaping their students success. If parents or teachers are poor leaders our children are the ones who are at a disadvantage. When they shine as leaders our children blossom and the world is wide open to them. As a future teacher it is of utmost importance that I make sure to find the best style of teaching for the students I will be teaching in order for them to receive the...show more content...

Not every child learns the same way, nor are they interested in the same things. In my fieldwork I have noticed that it is becoming more difficult to keep the attention of twenty to twenty–five children under the age of ten. Most of the students in the class were not really that interested in researching or reading. When it came time to learn a new activity they would sigh and state that they did not want to do any of the work. However, if a conversation was sparked about a new video game they were all excited to converse about it. A good teacher must learn to incorporate everyone's beliefs into the daily curriculum. All students must be aware of the differences in the world and around them. Teachers have a lot of responsibility and need to make sure that they make learning a positive experience for all. By being sensitive to the needs of everyone and presenting different ways of doing things, it can be possible for everyone to have an equal opportunity to do their best. Standard 3: Instruction– Differentiated instruction is very effective in the classroom. Teachers should be well aware of how greatly students may vary in readiness, interest, and modes of learning. Teachers need to work to adjust the classroom to the needs of subgroups of students. Cooperative learning or student– centered instruction is not a new concept. Like direct instruction it has been used as

Growing up I always dreamed of being a teacher. I soon realized that I would not be fit for that job. Once I broke my arm being in the hospital fascinated me. There was so many things to see. As I got older I did a lot research and came across one job that really caught my eye. A surgical technologist. I never knew that there was such a thing. The best part was, I got to observe and the surgery I saw was life changing. After doing some research, I contacted a friend whom is a surgical technologist. I was so curious to know what it was like. She told me that she's seen so many different fascinating things. Later on, she gave me her bosses number so I could contact her. I began to ask her boss many questions and she eventually told me I could come in and observe. I was so excited. I could hardly wait. I was finally going see something I never thought I would. Before I could do anything though, I had to fill out a ton of papers. Some of the statements on the paper had me a little worried. Like how I could catch a disease if I wasn't careful in there. The next morning, I got up early and got ready to go watch surgeries. I was so excited I got there an hour early. Walking into thehospital was a little nerve wracking. I had no clue where anything was, or who anyone was. When I finally reached my destination, they took me to the lockers. There I changed into scrubs, a hair net, shoe covers and a mask to cover my face. At first, I was confused on why I need shoe covers but one

When I first come to Saint Cloud High School, I was uncertain of how I would fit into the world of education as a teacher, in fact, this was my first teaching practice. After completing a few observations, I changed my view and recognized my teaching abilities. I was able to learn many different things that will be helpful to me when I become a certified teacher someday. Although I could face many possible challenges in the classroom, I have many of the strengths it takes to be a good teacher. There were many times during this field training that gave me a broad idea of how the ordinary life of a teacher would go. Similarly, I got a profound sense of how the classroom environment is for most instructors. In general, I believe this was a pleasant experience for me, and I learned a lot in such a brief period. The educational unit I executed has an element of my instruction beliefs that students should connect and relate theme content to real life situations inside and outside the teaching space. Therefore, during my teaching experience, I feel compromise and responsible for meeting my students' needs and that is why I included many visuals aids and plenty of flexible activities. Hence, this unit involved a mixture of student and teacher–centered strategies such as direct instruction, drill and practice of the unit vocabulary, lectures, dialogues, question and answer sessions, discussions with exchanges of opinions and perspectives, discovery learning events and presentations

Best Teacher, Worst Teacher

Although I have had many different types of teachers, there are two that stick out more than any others. The first was my third and sixth grade teacher. She was the best teacher I ever had. The second was my seventh grade teacher. She was the worst I think a student could have had. Both, these teachers had very different teaching styles and very different out looks on teaching. To be an effective teacher the teacher must respect the student and be willing to go the extra mile to help the students learn all they can. In this paper, I will discuss the effectiveness of these two teachers and how their teaching styles differed.

First of all, what is a good teacher? According...show more content...

I hope that I do not become a teacher like this.

Now that I can see the difference in good and bad teaching I have two teachers in mind that fit each description. The first being my favorite teacher. She was both my third and sixth grade teacher. She showed me that I could be what ever I wanted to be. She made me feel that even though I was not the best student in the class I still could be the best if I gave a little more. She motivated me to do all my work and gave me the extra boost I need to learn. When the students in my class did something right she always praised us. She also played game with us to learn. According to the book it says. ?If the teacher keeps the students involved they will be more likely to like school and learn in school.?

The second type of teacher is and ineffective teacher. This type of teacher does not motivate or enthuse their students to learn. My seventh grade teacher was this type of teacher. She was a cake decorating teacher at the vocational center then became a math teacher overnight. At the begging of class, every day she would stand at the board and say class be quiet class shut up. That's all she would say the whole class and we never got anything done. Then if she would try to teach she would read out of the book and never give examples. If a student would ask a question she would say you?re not dumb you know the answer. The teacher always put the students down. According to
