THIS MONTH: The Holidays

It was only last week when I first realized that December closes out another decade. I remember 20 years ago, when we all were frantically preparing for Y2K, and partying like it was 1999. Well, because it was actually 1999. The ball dropped at midnight and miraculously, none of the computers crashed. The planes stayed in the air. Our bank accounts did not disappear. The new decade would bring the birth of my children, 9/11, the iPhone, social media, and Amazon.com. It also brought the inaugural issue of Neapolitan Family in September 2000 by its founder, Andrea Breznay. This December, we have a lot to celebrate before we hit 2020. We are celebrating 20 years of producing an award-winning parenting resource that helps thousands of parents each month find the information they need to pick the best schools, camps, doctors, vacations, parks, and plans for the days that can seem so long. And, in this issue, we are going to help you find the best and most affordable ways to celebrate the season with your friends and family. From the annual National Parent Product Awards we have created a gift guide of our favorite new products that we know you will love. If you are looking to give the gift of experiences, turn to page 16 to find Janeen Lewis’ list of ideas. Looking for Santa? Venture no further than our calendar, where every Santa sighting is marked by a peekaboo Santa icon. Hanukkah festivities feature a menorah by those listings. Our holiday issue also features the best holiday lights locations, free events, spectacular performances, and photos with Santa. Everyone love to win prizes, and we have 12 of them featured in our 12 Days of Holiday Giving Sweepstakes. Find out the details on page 5 and then head to neafamily.com to start entering to win your favorite prizes. Be sure to watch for our January issue, where we are going to give you 20 reasons to love Neapolitan Family in 2020. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
