In June of this year, Unilog Management won a major integration contract with Natexis Assurances, a subsidiary of the Natexis-Banque Populaire group.

But the success of the operation was only possible thanks to the close and constant collaboration of Unilog IT Services, who have taken charge of migration and IT architecture. Of course, the Key Account Manager played an important role, too, in particular in mobilising all the teams and making sure that the full palette of resources needed to cover this integration project were available and committed. And the effort continues. The implementation phase will be launched in November this year, and the project is expected to last up to three years. Today, still in the planning and

Unilog Management’s success was also a result of the Unilog Management ability to create a vision for the Natexis project as well as a method of balancing project cost management and risk containment. In short, the success in winning this major project with Natixis Assurances is the outcome of Unilog Management’s ability to combine a business vision with a rugged project management methodology.
How success is born
ORACLE ET L’INDUSTRIE
T
he integration of the Graphtalk AIA software solution from US-based Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) is a very ambitious project for Natexis Assurances. Not just because it involved re-structuring the majority of the key Natexis business areas of personal insurance, retirement funds, provident funds and customer contact management (areas in which CSC has a long history of specialisation). Nor even simply because it represented a sizeable budget – the total investment by Natexis Assurances represents some €40 million, with around €16 million reserved for the Unilog’s services of consulting, integration, software and configuration for the Natexis environment. It was

ambitious because it required changing most of the customer’s IS infrastructure, hardware and processes. Winning a project of this dimension demanded a combination of pure effort and the availability of multiple competencies. Where effort is concerned, Unilog Management pulled out all the stops. It pulled together its response to the RFI between Christmas 2005 and the first week of January 2006 (already quite an achievement!). And between February and May, three different proposals were made – with supporting presentations – and 30 workshops run with Natexis and CSC to define and validate the scope and objectives of the project, evaluate the feasibility, estimate the costs and then fine-tune the proposals and the overall approach. The Insurance Business Team, part of the MPI Business Unit, is project leader. But the project also calls on other Unilog Management skills. MIG is handling the integration side, while MHP is helping out with change management support.
Clinching the deal Despite all this effort and the pooling of skills, it was a close call between Unilog Management and its competitors on the project. At first, four companies were in the running: Accenture, Cap Gemini, IBM and Unilog Management. This was soon whittled down to two, Cap Gemini and Unilog, running neck and neck. At the end of the day, the choice of Unilog Management was a choice of trust. The Unilog Management project director spared no effort in meeting, discussing and convincing the general management and the different business line managers of Natexis Assurance as well as the management team of the Banque Populaire group.
