StudentswhotakeanAPclassmustalsotaketheAPtestinMay,unlesstheyhavereceived authorizationinwritingfromtheAssociateHeadofSchoolforCurriculum&Instruction.Incaseswhere astudentisseekinganexemptionfromtheAPexaminMay,thestudentwillbeexpectedtocompletea finalexamaspertheregularscheduletocompletethecourseforthesemester(APExamPolicy).The Mayexamistheculminationofayear’sworthofstudy,andisthenaturalextensionoftakinganAP class.EachAPexamcostsapproximately$95perexam(updatedintheFall)andwillbebilledthrough StudentBilling.ExamsareorderedforstudentsenrolledinanNDBAPcourseoffering. APEnrollmentInformation

1. Duringthespring,APteacherswillconductoptionalinformationalsessionsforstudentswhohave requestedtheirAPclasses.Atthesemeetings,studentswillhavetheopportunitytoaskaboutthe timecommitmentandotherrequirementsforthatAPclass.

2. Studentsrequesting3ormoreAPcoursesarerequiredtocompletetheNDBAP®Expectations Worksheet,aswellastodiscussandsignoffonitwiththeirparentsorguardians,andNDB Counselor Thisdocumentmustbecompletedinfullandturnedintothestudent’sNDBCounselor byMarch28,2024.

3. StudentsmayrequestmultipleAPcourses,howevernotallrequestsmaybepossiblegiventhe constraintsofthemasterschedule. Understandingthatthesecoursesarehighlydesired,but sometimesnotpossibletoaccommodategivenschedulingfactors,weaskthatstudentsranktheir selectionsfrommostimportanttoleastimportantbasedonfuturegoals. Westrivetofulfillasmany requestsaspossible. Intheeventofaconflict,thestudent'sNDBcounselorwillmeettoconfirmthe preferencesbasedonwhatisavailableandcanbeaccommodated.

4. Thestandardadd/droppolicy(intheFall)doesnottypicallyapplytoAPcoursecommitments.There isnopenaltyfordroppinganAPclassbeforeJune5,2024.However,studentsmaynotbeallowedto dropanAPclassafterthisdatebasedoncommitmentstobuildingthemasterschedule.Webuildthe NDB Course Catalog 2024-2025

AP® ExamExemptionPolicy

TheMayexamistheculminationofayear’sworthofstudy,andisthenaturalextensionoftakingan APclass. IntheeventofastudentseekinganexemptionfromtheExam,pleasenotethefollowing:

● StudentsmayrequestanexemptionfromtakingtheSpringAPexamofferedbyCollegeBoard forcoursesdesignatedasAP®inwritingwithaparentsignature.

● RequestswillbeconsideredbytheAssistantHeadofSchoolforCurriculum&Instruction.

● RequestsshouldbemadenolaterthanMarch08,2024toavoidincurringadditionalfees.

○ Afee(~$55)isincurredbythestudentforunusedexams.Thefeesforcancelingexams varyandwillbedeterminedbyCollegeBoardinvoicing.
