Last Meeting Notes Welcome to a new NIRC Rotary Year! Lets all join in to “Engage, Participate & Share” President Art began meeting and new Rotary Year 12:30pm Past Presidents Bob and Uzo formally delegated the “transfer of power” to Art. Inspirational Moment: Cecil Hess Jokes for the week: Uzo Okerke Business Moment: Bob Fish provided an overview of his role as treasurer this year. Invoices will be out next week. Visiting Guests and Rotarians: Rocky will be Sgt. At Arms this year. He announced that PastPresident Jack Scott passed away. Among our guests this week was PDG Lane Calvert. Art reminded us of the golf tournament on July 15th. Tee off is 9 am. PDG Lane Calvert provided an overview of District Governor Rae Shirer’s priorities this year. Membership, Foundation Funding and The Family of Rotary. Lane also awarded Norm Witt with his Daily Pilot Hall of Fame Award. Norm was unable to attend the award ceremony in June. Congratulations Norm! President Art provided an overview of his goals and initiatives for the year. He attended the RI Convention in Lisbon last month and was inspired by the international diversity and dedication there.
He is committed to embracing the RI annual goal to “Engage Rotary-Change Lives”. Art’s new meeting format includes pre-meeting drinks, mixing up table assignments, and having an evening meeting once per month. His club motto for the year is “Engage, Participate and Share”. Art’s top priority for the year is to increase membership. We all need to recruit new members. Diversity is the key. He sees great potential at UCI, young executives and our spouses. He also wants us to have fun, and we’re planning a third Friday Duffy Ride in August and a get together at Emerald Bay Beach. This week’s Raffle was won by Sandra Moyer The Program this week was Magic Castle magician Michael Van Horn who entertained us with his slight of hand magic tricks. Patricia, Kerk, Uzo, Bill and Art assisted his tricks. Golf Tournament is scheduled for Monday July 15th at Oak Creek golf course. We need 10 more foursomes. Tee times are also for sale. Get to know President Art... Arthur will talk about martial arts in general and in particular Kenpo Karate. Arthur holds a third degree Black Belt in Kenpo Karate; he will further demonstrate the practicable application of Kenpo Karate for your own personal defense.. The floor will then be open for other members to share their own stories with members so be prepared with a few words you might want to share with others in the club... 1 minute each... See you all Thursday... NOTE: Meeting Time changes for the following meeting Aug 1st which will be held 6pm in the Evening as a Social event where all are encouraged to bring spouses and friends... ---------------Upcoming Speakers/Events-----------------Thursday August 1st, 6:00 pm New Time and Surprise...
