JOSE ANTONIO OLVERA BORN C. 1780 -DIED UNKNOWN

While the colonists in the thirteen American colonies were establishing their independence, the Spanish had already founded missions and mining settlements in present-day Durango, Mexico. There were multiple indigenous groups that inhabited the region: the Tepehuanes, the Salineros, the Zacatecos, and more. The residence of Jose Antonio and his wife Tomasa are unknown, but they are named in the baptismal record of their grandchild, Maria Concepcion Olvera.
