WINTER 2022

Executive Director Message

Membership grew 16%, member retention is up 50%, and our social media presence grew by 58%. We held thirty-eight local and national events impacting over 1,500 people.

022 has arrived! COVID has yet to depart, however NAWJ not only survived 2021 but thrived in 2021. Membership grew 16%, member retention is up 50%, and our social media presence grew by 58%. We held thirtyeight local and national events impacting over 1,500 people. Your willingness to volunteer your time and passion for the NAWJ mission made all this possible. After 18th months of Zoom meetings, it was wonderful to see over 200 of you in person at the Annual Conference, I am grateful to Judge Holmes and the entire Nashville Conference Committee for their persistence and patience. We made a lot of progress meeting the goals of the 2019-2024 Strategic Plan accomplishing the following objectives: Education Pillar: Increased Local Leadership, Accessible Education and Increased Grant Funded Programs Membership Pillar: Membership Growth and Membership Retention. Organizational Excellence Pillar: Maximize Operations for Financial Sustainability and Growth

Financial Sustainability Pillar: Evaluate Sponsorships and the Effectiveness of the Landmark Sponsors. I certainly also want to recognize our staff team of Megan Collie, Brian Gorg, Janelle Mihoc, and Francie Teer. I am fortunate to work with such colleagues who work together seamlessly, present solutions when problems arise, and always put our members first. Lastly, thank you for participating in the Membership Survey. As a result of your answers to the question, “Describe in one word what NAWJ means to you” the Word Art above aptly conveys your answers, I look forward to seeing you in person at the 2022 Midyear Meeting March 10-12 in Crystal City, Virginia and the 2022 Annual Conference October 19-22 in Detroit, Michigan.

Laurie Hein Denham, CAE Executive Director
