13 Perhaps Jesus’ invitation: “Follow me” (Jn 21:19) cost no other disciple as much as it did Peter. None had such a tough practical training as Simon’s, none was put to the test like he was and made so many mistakes; nobody was as impulsive or as weak as he was. Nobody received the call after so many delays or was put to such a humiliating and painful trial by public questioning from Jesus, whether he loved him or not; or on whether he loved him more than others: maybe this is why we have been founded on ‘this rock’. Peter’s example cannot pass without noting its import for our lives as disciples: to become a foundation for the community of Jesus neither our mistakes and betrayals, nor our misunderstandings and obstinacy, but we need to love preferentially, excel in our regained fidelity through tears and by protesting our predilection and love. 1. Si promuovano le pie Associazioni, che sono nelle nostre case, per promuovere con esse la moralit tra gli allievi, e si procuri che le medesime abbiano un capo di buono spirito e di speciale attitudine all’uopo. 5. La vita esemplare, pia, esatta delle Suore, la carit tra di loro, le belle maniere e la dolcezzacolle alunne sono mezzi efficaci per coltivare le vocazioni allo stato religioso, perch , verbamovent, exempla trahunt. 304. Le maestre e le altre Superiore vedano di cogliere l’occasione per proporre esempi edificanti di giovanette, che si consacrarono a Dio nello stato religioso, ed esporre il bene che vi hanno fatto, e la contentezza che ne hanno provato. 305. Si consiglino legiovanette a non parlare della loro vocazione anzi tempo, se non col loro Direttore spirituale o colle loro Superiore. 306. Si promuovano le pie associazioni delle Figlie di Maria; si usi speciale benevolenza a quelle che vi appartengono; s’impedisca ogni disprezzo che possa loro pervenire, ma nello stesso tempo si guardi dall’avvilire quelle che non vi fanno parte. Occorrendo di dare qualche avviso o fare qualche rimprovero ad una giovanetta appartenente ad alcuna di questeassociazioni, per quanto possibile, lo si faccia privatamente e con buona grazia. 307. La probit dei costumi, la scienza, lo spinto ecclesiastico. - Come conoscere se vi sia la probit dei costumi? - La probit dei costumi si conosce specialmente dalla vittoria dei vizi contrariial sesto comandamento e di ci bisogna rimettersi al parere del confessore. - Il confessore gi mi disse che per questo canto posso andare avanti nello stato ecclesiastico con tutta tranquillit . Ma e per la scienza? - Per la scienza tu devi rimetterti al giudizio dei superiori che ti daranno gli opportuni esami. - Che cosa s’intende per ispirito ecclesiastico? - Per ispirito ecclesiastico s’intende la tendenza ed il piacere che si prova nel prendere parte a quelle funzioni di chiesa che sono compatibili coll’et e colleoccupazioni. - Niente altro? - Vi una parte dello spirito ecclesiastico che d’ogni altra pi importante.
