DAYS 1–2 I PANAMA CITY, PANAMA/ GATÚN LAKE Arrive in Panama City and transfer to Fuerte Amador. Anchor overnight in Gatún Lake, then disembark on the island of Barro Colorado to visit the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute. Cruise onward through the historic Panama Canal. National Geographic Quest for the entire voyage I Meals: 1B, 1L, 2D DAYS 3–4 I PORTOBELO/GUNA YALA Step ashore at the historic town of Portobelo and explore the town’s 17th- and 18th-century Spanish colonial fortifications. The next day, glide into the Guna Yala Archipelago and spend the morning in an island village learning about Guna culture and crafts. Cruise into Colombian waters and explore the Caribbean coast with your choice of several activities. Meals: 2B, 2L, 2D
DAYS 5–6 I NECOCLÍ, COLOMBIA/ SAN ANTERO/SANTA CRUZ DE LORICA/ TUCHÍN Discover the coastal community of Necoclí and the surrounding region. Explore coastal wetlands, and visit a local cocoa farm. The next day, visit the beach town of Coveñas and drive inland to Santa Cruz de Lorica, a charming riverside town. Meals: 2B, 2L, 2D
DAYS 7–8 I SANTA CRUZ DEL ISLOTE/SAN BERNARDO ARCHIPELAGO/CARTAGENA Visit Santa Cruz del Islote, the most densely populated island on Earth. Later, our ship cruises into the San Bernardo Archipelago, where we’ll spend the afternoon relaxing on white sand beaches and kayaking or paddleboarding among the mangroves. The next day, disembark in Cartagena and transfer to the airport to connect with your flight home. Meals: 2B, 1L, 1D
A diverse expedition team, including an Expedition Leader, a photo instructor, and local naturalists, will accompany this trip. Colombian photographer and filmmaker Federico Pardo will join the October 30 and November 6, 2021 departures.
