Learning Goes 'LIVE' with New Safety Demo Introducing Live Wire on Wheels! This exciting and unique high-voltage safety demonstration has been created to teach valuable lessons about how to stay safe around electricity. Whether you work around electricity or simply use it every day, knowing how to respect it is invaluable knowledge. Live Wire on Wheels uses actual electrical equipment - poles, wire, transformers and more - for a captivating demonstration on the dangers of electricity that will be memorable for a variety of audiences. Live Wire on Wheels gives electrical safety learning an extra spark. Photos by Tad Denson, MyShotz.com.

These lessons are taught by the best - actual electric cooperative employees who work around high-voltage electricity every day. They've been trained on how to protect their own lives while on the job. Now they want to help audiences learn to protect their own. The demo is available for corporate meetings, community events and high school programs. If you'd like to add some "spark" to your next gathering, book Live Wire on Wheels through Baldwin EMC today. ASK THE ENERGY SPECIALIST Question: Summer is starting, and at my house that means time to get the pool ready. It always concerns me that the pump runs pretty much all day. Is this having a big effect on my electric bill? First of all, I'm a little jealous. There's no pool to jump in to beat the heat at my house. But enough about me, let's get to your question. The simple answer is yes. If your pool pump is running constantly, that's going to cause a jump in your electric bill from previous months when you weren't using the pump. We always reccomend discussing your plans with your pool contractor to determine what's best for your pool. If he or she says it's ok, try running your pump for fewer hours each day. You can survey how much debris is left in the pool after each run. If there's still too much for your liking, you can start increasing the duration in half-hour increments until you get to a timing that satisfies you. Another idea is to try using a timer to run your filter for several short periods during the day rather than allowing debris to pile up after one long continuous filtration. That will consume less energy and save you some money for pool toys and lemonade. Or, you can do things the manual way and grab a skimmer to scoop out any unwelcome pool floaters. You’ll have plenty of time for some pool relaxation afterward, and the relief you’ll see on your power bill will be well worth the effort. A
