Along the way she encounters three modern American masters, with Conlon Nancarrow’s jazz-inflected Prelude and Blues, the moving Brahmsian Largo from Lou Harrison’s majestic Piano Concerto and Frederic Rzewski’s poetic and powerful Winnsboro’ Cottonmill Blues.
