EDUCATION EVENTS APR-JULY

Saturday 10 May 11AM/12:15PM/2PM John Field Room AfriKaa!: for Children with Autistic Spectrum Conditions AfriKaa! is a multi-sensory installation and experimental concert by Slavek Kwi. Designed for and dedicated to children with autism, the sound journey allows children to move freely through the rich soundscape of South Africa’s Limpopo Valley. Experience the wonder of the waterholes and riparian woodland, where hippos, crocodiles, leopards and bat-eared foxes may appear at any moment. Feel the march of many tiny feet. The tribal gathering is here! Interludes of classical music will add even more magic to the experience. The composition was created from Slavek’s own field-recordings from Mmabolela Nature Reserve. AfriKaa! is the second project in a series of multichannel installations, following in the footsteps of Ama-Zone. Visitors to AfriKaa! are asked to be present for the start of the session for a brief welcome and introduction, but are then free to wander in and out as they please.
