Woman; raped and murdered

Sheline Martinez

Dangriga police has detained one person following the murder of a destitute pregnant woman in Dangriga. According to police reports, they responded to a call about six o’clock Sunday morning and as a result went to a house on George Price Drive where they observed a woman dressed in black who was in a seated position on the front steps bathed in a pool of blood with visible cut wounds to the right side of her face. The house caretaker told an investigator that he was about to go out on an errand when he made the discovery of the woman on the step and his first

thought was that she was asleep and as he proceeded to awake her he realized that she was dead and called the police. The woman was identified as thirty four year old Sheline Camille Martinez who was known as a homeless person roaming the streets. Police found blood stains on the bench at the bus-stop situated facing the nearby Texaco Gas Station on George Price Drive which suggests that that’s where she sustained her injuries. Other evidence police found concludes that she was raped but also said that the woman was six or seven months in a state of pregnancy. Police believes that the person that attacked the woman drag her to the unfinished building and she eventually made her way somewhere to the steps where she was found. Residents say that the woman often slept at the bus-stop where police believes she was first attacked which is not too far from where she was found dead. Martinez’ mother who chose to remain anonymous told the press that Sheline was homeless because she chose to live on the streets.

Belize City Police have arrested 19 year old Kenjerdic Wade and 18 year old Robert Roaches and charged them jointly with robbery following an incident which occurred Monday night in the area of the Marine Parade Drive. Aguilar who is the administrative officer for the Belize Health Care Partners reported that the two men rode past them on bicycles but got off therir bikes and approached him. He added that one of them then pulled a firearm

from his waist and pointed it to his head demanding that he hand over everything. Aguilar said he did take off one of his two gold chains from around his neck and hand it over but the gun man was not satisfied and demanded the other and when he refused, the gunman pulled the trigger but the gun refused to fire and this prompted a struggle between the two. The two teenagers appeared in Court on Tuesday where they were jointly read the charge of robbery before Magistrate Emmerson Banner.
