Value Added Features and Functionality SMART ENCODING The Smart Encoding feature optimizes bandwidth and storage space by allowing users to increase or decrease image quality for selected areas based upon criticality. Users can define the stream so security personnel can quickly zero in on the key elements of the scene during preview and playback. ROI (Region of Interest) ROI is an image cropping feature designed to assist users in achieving bandwidth and storage optimization. Users can select key regions of a scene to transmit as separate streams for targeted preview and recording. WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) WDR technology ensures proper lighting contrast and image clarity when experiencing severe backlighting or glare. True WDR, a sensor-based WDR technology, is perfect for the most challenging lighting environments; WDR can be adjusted to produce the best image under various lighting conditions. SMART IR TECHNOLOGY (IR or night vision cameras use infrared light to illuminate images in the dark) Some cameras offer Smart IR technology to maintain proper exposure in the scene. The cameras include narrow and wide angle LEDs that adjust to the lens field-of-view. The result is greater effectiveness for demanding applications such as identification of people or vehicle license plate numbers, under low visible light conditions. VIDEO CONTENT ANALYSIS (VCA) Capable of automatically analyzing video to detect and determine temporal and spatial events, VCA provides a highly reliable and accurate tracking engine with intelligent detection filters that automate the monitoring and analysis of video images. VCA is designed to operate in a wide range of surveillance situations, including intrusion detection, vehicle monitoring, abandoned object detection, people counting and loitering detection.
COMPARISON BETWEEN H.265 (HEVC) AND H.264 (AVC) H.265 delivers advanced compression that captures surveillance video using a decreased bitrate, reducing bandwidth requirements and storage costs Compression Ratio - The difference between H.265 and H.264 is the compression efficiency. H.265 (aka HEVC) doubles the coding efficiency compared to its predecessor H.264. This means H.265 video saves around 50% of the bit rate at the same quality of coding. Bandwidth Use - H.265 is superior to H.264 regarding the bandwidth usage. Because H.265’s algorithm uses the efficient coding, H.265 promises approximately a 40-50% reduction in transmission bandwidth needed to compress the video (e.g., in 720p) over H.264 at the same video quality. Quality - The big difference between H.265 and H.264 lies in the video quality at the same bit rate. In H.264, the border areas of the block are likely to be distorted because each macroblock is fixed and the data is independent from each other. H.265 offers sharper details on faces and fabrics and smooth gradient areas with less blocking and fewer artifacts. Therefore, H.265 is better than H.264 when it comes to compressing a video with better image quality. File Size - The improved compression ratio also has a great relationship with the digital storage requirement of video streams and transmission. The reduced bandwidth leads to a smaller file size. Tests show that a video encoded with H.264 is almost 1-3 times larger than that with H.265. This is favorable for hard drive storage or a device with limited storage space required to house the video data. WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE? 1080P HD 1080P provides remarkable clarity. 1080P cameras produce images with 1920 x 1080 pixels per unit. Also known as “full HD,” this is the standard. This image quality is roughly equivalent to 2.1 megapixels.
4MP ULTRA HD 4 megapixel IP cameras are network-based security cameras that are capable of providing video resolutions up to 2560 x 1440 pixels, which is 30% greater than 1080P HD. The 4MP image has twice the detail of the 1080P image; however, by increasing the image resolution, the required network bandwidth and storage will increase accordingly.
