4 SUBTLE SIGNS THAT YOUR VET CLINIC REALLY CARES ABOUT YOUR PETS

Animal Health

It’s one thing to have a vet clinic here in Singapore that you can rely on in times of need. It’s another to have a clinic that really cares about your pet’s comfort and well-being. Here are four subtle signs that your go-to vet clinic identifies with the latter.

PETS ARE HANDLED WITH CARE This is the most telling sign that your pet is in good hands. Pay attention to how the staff and vet handle their patients.

If an aggressive cat refuses to leave the safety of its carrier, how they take it out? Do they take the time to coax the temperamental feline out? Or, do they just drag it out? How about dogs that bare their teeth at the vet coming at them with a needle? Do they placate the irate canines? Or, do they take the brute force approach and have several assistants hold it down?

PETS ARE HANDLED WITH CARE If your vet clinic is prone to using the latter options in these scenarios, then you may have a problem.

Here’s a disclaimer though. Keep in mind that a clinic's competence is never measured by whether or not they place their patient's comfort in high regard. Vets can be callous with how they handle their patients and still be a great doctor. Vet clinics who really care about their patients, however, will never compromise their patients’ comfort unless it's there’s no other way of administering treatment.

THE CLINIC SENDS REMINDERS FOR SCHEDULED SHOTS AND CHECK-UPS You’ll know that a vet clinic for pets in Singapore really cares about your pet if they never fail to remind you of your upcoming appointments with them. They’ll send a text detailing what the appointment is about—usually it’s for scheduled vaccinations. Some vet clinics would even go as far as to call you if you missed the appointment.

THE CLINIC KEEPS THE OWNERS OF CONFINED PETS UPDATED If your pet was so ill that they had to be confined and observed, chances are you’ll be unwilling to leave them behind. You’ll be worrying constantly about them. You’ll know that your go-to clinic really cares about your pet if they’re not adverse to requests of regular updates. They’ll be more than willing to send you texts and pictures of your dog/cat.

THE VETS ARE MORE THAN WILLING TO OFFER ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS Some vets insist their treatment plans on pet owners. They persist that it’s the only course of action to improve their patient’s conditions. And, even if the pet owner is strongly against it, they won’t relent and offer alternatives. Vet clinics who really care about their patients are different. They’ll give you a detailed explanation of their diagnosis and recommend treatment. But, they won’t force you to go with it. If you’re not on board with their suggestion, they’ll be more than happy to offer alternative solutions—even if it means pointing you to another clinic.

Want to make sure your pets are well taken care of? Find a clinic that features all of these traits!
