project b a live mini brief to explore the colour black, its meaning and its emotions. the brief was set to open our minds to see how we could merge our personalities with the colour black.

Black is the silence and black is the loud, blacks the escape from the vexatious crowd. Black is the dirty and black is the clean, black is the white and the greys in between. Black is the everything upon or beneath, blacks the extraordinary and all of the grief. Black speaks a lot, then nothing at all, black is a darkness and a cushion of fall. Black is the open and black is the close, black is the nothing that everyone chose. Black is the neutral, no wrong or no right, blacks the dissension still fighting the fight. Black is awake and black is asleep, the one we elude, the one that we keep. Black is the autumn, the summer and snow, the one that we push, yet never let go.

Black is the nightmare the trance and the dream, black is the tearing apart of the seam. Black is the past and black is the now, black is the “why”, the “where” and the “how”. Black is the crinkled, the smooth and the crisp, black is the ocean, the sun and the mist. Black is the you and black is the me, black is the only anonymity. Black is the love and black is the hate, the only control and debatable fate. Black is the mind, the heart and the soul, black is the emptiness, black is the whole. Black are these words that my mind makes breathe, black is black is the entirety, the all that we leave.

welcome to the 50’s a first year brief set to explore the wonders of the 1950s while exploring ways to use bust and waist suppression with innovative darts.

inspired by the understated pencil dresses of the 50’s i stepped away from the puffball gowns and focused on a more sophisticated shape-the cocktail dress.

charcolour this brief consisted taking a source of inspiration and developing it into a trend. i took the elements of winter, the heavy greys and stormy wools and combined it with the delicate remenants of jack frosts handy work; delicate chiffons and pops of colour through the darkness.

charcol meets flourescence, exaggerating the contrast between one another.

inspired by the unusual shapes of ceramics, the silhouette creates a base for pops of colour.

responsive a live brief with the bone cancer research trust working along side survivors of primary bone cancer to produce and exhibit a piece that told their story.i worked specifically with paralympian swimmer marc woods. marc spoke of how days after his stitches were removed from his ambutation, he found himself back in the water, the water really gave him a release from the cancer

“the water gave me a sense of freedom

‘instead of focusing on your one ‘disability’ i try to prove that life is richer if you focus on all the things you can do.”

the sculpture was created by using heat manipulation on plastic, the concept was to achieve the look of water hitting a swimmers body.
