For my last show, I used my BFA exhibition to share with viewers knowledge on sustainability that I acquired from my various engagements. The exhibition’s objective was to encourage viewers to practice composting at home and to be more involved in community gardens. I created an installation inside the gallery to evoke a mood that would invite the viewers to respect and give more value to our natural resources. For this exhibit, I transformed a white cube into a small garden. People walked into this exhibit, and rather than being greeted by photographs hanging on the large white walls, the smell of compost would hit them. Other images were displayed in the large sifters and by the sides of raised garden beds. Each image displayed in this exhibition had vivid colors of fresh and healthy vegetables and fruits. More importantly, one of the aspects of this exhibition was that 80% of the elements I used were reused, recycled, and reduced excess waste that later has to be added to landfills.
