KVGOA organizes awareness campaign on disaster response

KOHIMA, SEP 22 (NPN): One day awareness campaign on “disaster response” was organized by Kohima village gazetted officers Association (KVGOA) and sponsored by department of civil defence and home guards (Kohima district) at Government Middle School (GMS) Seikhazou Kohima Village, Thursday. Delivering an introductory remark, deputy commandant general home guards and civil defence Nagaland Kohima, Medozhalie Pienyii, said disaster management is a vast subject encompassing various aspects. He said that in Nagaland earthquake and fire incident are two common in regard to disaster events while reminding that Nagaland state fall under seismic zone- 5. Stating that in any kind of disaster, particular area people are first responder, Pienyii said it was necessary for citizens of Nagaland to be alert and be ready for any calamities. He informed that earlier the government of India’s policy in regard to disaster was response and relief.

Vingutuo with the state disaster response force.
NSDMA to conduct state-wide CFR trg on disaster DIMAPUR: Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) would be organizing state-wide ‘Community First Responder’ (CFR) training on disaster management, in a phase manner beginning from September 2016 to November 2016. In a press statement, Secretary NSDMA, Khrienuo Metha stated that CFR was based on the understanding that the community is always the first responder in any disaster. It said Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority has also developed a module for training of CFC based on a cascading model wherein youth from the subdivisions would be trained as District Trainer of Trainees (ToTs), who in turn would train youth in their respective villages. Resource persons for the CFR will comprise of personnel from the Civil Defence &Home Guards, Health & Family Welfare, Fire & Emergency Service and Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority. The NSDMA will maintain a directory of all these trained youth and utilise them during times of disasters in the state, stated the release.

NO.JIC/WFI/NS/2016/060 Dated : Dimapur, the 21st September, 2016 Whereas, the Government of Nagaland has constituted a One Man Inquiry Commission vide Notification NO.CON/LOR3/2012 Dated 13th November 2015 called 'Wuzu Firing Incident Inquiry Commission' as provisioned under the sub-section (I) of Section 3 of the Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1952, (60 of 1952) with Shri Veprasa Nyekha, District & Sessions Judge (Retd.) as the single member Chairman. On 16th July, 2015 while 46 Assam Rifles and 12 Para Commandos returned from Avankhung area under Meluri SubDivision, Phek District after encounter with NSCN (K) cadres in which 2 (two) NSCN (K) cadres were killed and the dead bodies were being taken to Meluri Police Station for legal formalities and on the way near Wuzu Village the village leaders of Wuzu, Old Phor and New Phor requested the dead body of SS Capt. Puhachu of Wuzu Village to be handed over to them to which the Commander of the Security Forces refused after which incident of firing took place resulting in the death of two civilians both Class 7 (Seven) students namely - Tiizali, Son of Siikhaho of Phor Village and Miss Aso, daughter of T. Yeteli of Wuzu village and injury to one woman Mrs. Vitsiirho Esther, Wife of Riitu of Wuzu village. The Commission is to make an inquiry into the causes and source of firing which led to the death of two minor children and injury to one woman, the person/s responsible for firing and whether the incident could have been avoided. Accordingly, the Inquiry Commission invites Written Statements from the Administrative Officers, Phek and Police Department (DEF), Phek who was/were directly or indirectly concerned with the incident that took place at Wuzu on 16/07/2015. Written Statements should be filed before the Inquiry Commission, whose office is situated at the Circuit House, Opposite Ancient Rajbari, Dimapur fixing on or before 20th October, 2016 (Thursday).
