DIMAPUR: Sensitization programme on National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) based on Employment through Skills Training and Placement (EST&P) was held at Deputy Commissioner (DC)s Conference hall Mon. The programme was organised by District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) Mon with DC Mon, W. Honje Konyak as the guest of honour. According to DIPR report, the DC asked the trainees how far they are com-

mitted to the training and whether they are confident to live their life and earn for the family doing private jobs after they have undergone the training. He requested all the trainees to be committed to their training soulfully for their success in life He requested the chairman, UDO & member Secretary and community organiser of DUDA to identify and introduce trades like plumbering, house painting and electronic mechanics under their programme. The DC also requested

the service providers and instructors to upgrade the capacity and standard of the training for better future of the trainees. The programme was chaired by ADC Mon & chair man DUDA Mon, M.A. Shihab, introduction and familiarization of the NULM/EST&P was given by UDO and member secretary DUDA, Pat Keyhie and community organiser DUDA, L. Wanshom Konyak respectively. The programme was attended by 90 trainees.

Accountant General informs pensioners

DIMAPUR: Accountant General (AG) has informed all retired state government officers/officials that pension and GPF final payment cases settled up to the month of May 2016 have been uploaded on the AG Nagaland website- www.agnagaland. gov. The AG has asked pensioners to log on the website and click “felicitation” and “pension or GPF felicitation” or directly click on “click here to view list of settled pension /GPF final payment cases”. The list has been displayed at public relation cell and can be viewed on any working days during office hours, added AG. AG (A&E) has also requested all pensioners to record their mobile numbers in the pension documents to enable the department to intimate them on the progress of their pension cases through SMSs. However, since the number is integrated with the system, pensioners have been requested

not to call the number but to note it down as all SMSs would be initiated through the number. The AG has also informed that SMSs would be sent when confirmation on the pension case was received, when the case was sent back to the department due to observation/objections, and on completion of pension case. UAWS condemns attempted rape

DIMAPUR: Upper Ag ri Women’s Society (UAWS) has vehemently condemned the attempted rape of a minor girl allegedly by one Dilip Pradhan, a retired government servant on May 31, 2016. In a press release, UAWS president Achü.M.Dzüvichü and general secretary Shetoli Tungoe stated that such acts of malafide intent did not have a place in a civilized society. “It is even more shocking that the shameful act was committed to a minor by a person old enough to be a grandfather!”, they said. Stating that “our children” deserved to grow in a society without fear and “our women” with dignity, the UAWS appealed to “all right thinking citizens” to condemn the act. It also fervently appealed to the law enforcing agencies to dis-

pense with speedy justice. The society has extended its “unflinching support’ to the victim and family members and also prayed that such incidents that damaged society were done away for good. Meanwhile, UAWS has stated that the accused would no longer be granted residency in the colony and anyone who provided him shelter would be doing so at their own risk. It also requested colony residents hailing from outside to cooperate with the efforts of the local bodies to maintain a safe social atmosphere for all. It further stated that non cooperation was a hindrance to justice and the society would not be responsible in future for those who preferred to remain outside the norms of the colony guidelines.

PWUC informs; cautions

DIMAPUR: Phetso Ward-2 Union Chumukedima (PWUC) has informed all residents that it would take stern action against anyone found selling drugs or alcohol within its jurisdiction. In a press note, the union warned it would impose stern action with heavy fine against bootleggers or drug peddlers and that landowner/house owner would also be held fully responsible. Further, PWUC has appealed its residents for cooperation to make the area a drugs/alcohol free zone.
