eco-system by the tribal people. With the increasing global warming and forest shrinking, occurrence of disease outbreak in mithun was frequently encountered with high mortality. This is simply because mithun lives in a natural habitat where close monitoring is often not feasible, stated the release.

KOHIMA: Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Kohima district has questioned the concern department as to why Aadhar card could not be obtained even after the possession of approval slip. Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha has claimed that majority of the approval slips are rather invalid though the bio-metric data were extracted from the same machine. The morcha has also questioned why concer n depar tment not taking corrective measures as Aadhar card numbers are made mandatory for most of the official purposes. It stated that many people from villages and students were facing major problem. Further, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha Kohima has urged the concern department to seriously look into the matter for the benefit of everyone.

PBNKE, EDLSU condemn Feb 20 firing incident DIMAPUR: Purana Bazar Nkonjan Kikon Ekhung (PBNKE) and East Dimapur Lotha Students Union (EDLSU) have strongly condemned the February 20 incident, wherein some unknown miscreants fired a gun at the residence of Zaremo Kikon of Darogapathar. While condemning the act, PBNKE chairman, Yibemo Kikon and secretary, Er. K. L. Moyo claimed that the
same miscreant(s) at around 2:30 a.m. also tried to break into the gate of its bonafied member. Stating that the motive behind the whole incident was of serious matter needing thorough investigation, PBNKE has urged the law enforcing authority to take all necessary possible steps to arrest the culprit(s) at the earliest. One NSCN (K) member arrested
DIMAPUR: In the series of “intense operations on underground outfits”, PRO (Defence) government of India stated that Changlang Battalion under the aegis of DAO division conducted a successful operation on February 26 at Mulong village and arrested one NSCN (K) member identi fied as Machow Ngaimong. According to PRO (Defence), Machow was apprehended based on “specific intelligence about presence of cadre trying to terrorize and carryout extortion in Mulong village.” The release stated that the battalion swiftly launched an operation and apprehended the cadre with a pistol and live ammunition. Post spot interrogation, PRO said Machow admitted allegiance to NSCN (K), he further divulged that he has been an active part of the “banned outfit for last seven years.”

KMC informs DIMAPUR: Kohima Municipal Council administrator, Kovi Meyase has informed that renewal of licences will commence from March 1. All concerned have been requested to renew trade licences within the given period. It said the centre was mandated for the conservation and propagation of mithun and has taken several initiatives for improving health, production and reproduction as well as characterization of the available germ plasm. Under the efforts taken by ICAR-NRC on mithun during 2016, mithun of Tening village are now regularly visiting the salt lick place and a temporary shed erected in the forest itself. It said this gives an opportunity to the mithun owners to have a better interaction with the animals. In the awareness programme, mithun herd in the village was vaccinated against foot and mouth disease, deworming besides distribution of materials for fencing, mithun shed, veterinary medicines, school stationeries to the economically poor children etc. The mithuns were also ear tagged for addressing the issue of ownership dispute.
