ctor Aamir Khan said here on Monday that he supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation decision, which he felt was for the “betterment” of the country. Addressing mediapersons, Khan said, “The government’s intention to curb black money is good and we should all support it. Even though demonetisation has affected me personally and others too, we should look at the longterm results.” Khan said the city’s wrestling tradition had brought him here for the promotion of his upcoming movie, `Dangal’.He said he has come here in the

past too for the promotion of `Mangal Pandey’ and ‘Sarfarosh’. Legendary wrestler Dadu Chougule welcomed Khan by applying a `tilak’ to his forehead and presenting him with a `pheta’ (turban). Khan was accompanied by `Dangal’ director Nitesh Tiwari and co-actors Fatima Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra, who plays his onscreen daughters. `Dangal’ tells the real-life story of Haryana wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, played by Khan, who trained his daughters in the sport. On the wrestling experience in the film, Khan said, “Wrestling is an amazing sport. Unlike boxing where one player might get hurt, one has to be quick in wrestling to avoid hurting the opponent. I learnt a lot about the sport during the film.” Khan said he had to increase his weight and drop it again later when playing Phogat’s younger version.

Thanks for all the blessings.” Kareena delivered the baby at Breach Candy Hospital here early morning. The baby has been named Taimur, which means iron. ick Van Dyke is set to star in the forthcoming Mary Poppins Returns sequel. The 91-year-old played chimney sweep Burt in the original 1964 movie. He told The Hollywood Reporter: “This one supposedly takes place 20 years later and the kids are all grown up. “It’s a great cast – Meryl Streep, Angela Lansbury and that guy from Hamilton [Lin-Manuel Miranda].” He also said he has no plans to retire from performing. “I think it’s the worst thing you can do. Certain people who do retire suddenly age. I think you have to stay active,” Dyke added. Earlier this year it was confirmed Colin Firth and Emily Blunt will appear in the sequel. Firth will play William Weatherall Wilkins, president of Fidelity Fiduciary Bank. Blunt has been cast as Mary Poppins, with Hamilton creator Lin-Man-

uel Miranda co-starring as new character Jack, a street lamplighter. Ben Whishaw and Emily Mortimer are playing grown-up versions of Michael and Jane Banks, the children Mary Poppins once looked after. Mary Poppins Returns is due to be released on Christmas Day 2018. It will tell the story of an older Jane and Michael Banks and Michael’s three children, who are visited by Poppins in the aftermath of a “personal loss” in Depression-hit London. The film’s director is Rob Marshall, who was also behind the camera for Into The Woods and the 2002 Oscar-winning film adap-

tion of Chicago. “I am truly humbled and honoured to be asked by Disney to bring PL Travers’ further adventures to the screen,” Marshall said when the film was announced. “The iconic original film means so much to me personally. And I look forward to creating an original movie musical that can bring Mary Poppins, and her message that childlike wonder can be found in even the most challenging of times, to a whole new generation.”

or many, Christmas is the perfect opportunity to spend time with loved ones and catch up with all they might have missed throughout the year. The Royal family are no exception to this – but as the head of state, the movements of Queen and her associated clan naturally differ to the rest of us. The Royal family traditionally spend Christmas at Sandringham Housein Norfolk, as opposed to Buckingham Palace. The Queen and Prince Philip usually make the journey to Sandringham via public transport – sometimes startling oblivious passengers with their presence while the rest of the family will arrive at some point on Christmas Eve. Once everyone has arrived, the royal guests enjoy a traditional Christmas that includes putting the finishing touches on the Christmas tree and the giving of cheap and humorous gifts. Dinner at Sandringham on Christmas Eve is a relatively formal affair, with the men wearing black tie suits and the woman wearing gowns, expensive jewellery, and tiaras. On Christmas morning Prince Philip will lead the Royal family on a walk to St Mary Magdalene Church for the traditional Christmas Day service. The Queen is driven. The service typically last for around 45 minutes, with the Queen hav-

married couples are invited to Sandringham for Christmas. Girlfriends and boyfriends are not allowed. As such, Miss Markle is expected to fly to California this weekend, to spend Christmas in her native Los Angeles with her mother. She is expected to begin filming the next series of the legal drama Suits in the new year. The Queen’s Christmas Message, broadcast to the 52 member states in the Commonwealth of Nations, is a Christmas Day staple. Originally called the King’s Christmas Message when the tradition began in 1932 with a radio broadcast by King George V, the message has been read by Queen Elizabeth II since 1952. The Queen typically uses the speech as a chance to reflect on the year and the major events that have occurred throughout it. She also makes a comment on her own personal milestones of the year and expresses her opinion on Christmas in general. The Queen’s Christmas Message is embargoed until 3pm on Christmas Day. It is then broadcast on BBC One, ITV, Sky 1, and Sky News from 3pm until 3.10pm. You can also listen to it on BBC Radio 4.
