During the release of the journal Rio congratulated the speaker, officers and staff of state legislative assembly for bringing out the first of its kind journal. He further extended best wishes for the journal as it begins a pioneering journey.

Chief editor of the journal, commissioner & secretary NLA, Dr. P. J Antony in his editorial note stated that the Naga Assembly Chronicles is a biannual journal of the state legislative assembly which hopes to be a useful tool in disseminating parliamentary knowledge, providing link between the state’s elected assembly and its various stakeholders. The publication, he said, will lakhs excluding transportation charges.

To query on the firm that had supplied the materials, the minister said two firms supplied the materails-- Thermo Fisher Scientific India pvt. Limited Mumbai and Dritu Enterprise Guwahati.

The minister also said that the department had purchased 20 Truenat Quattro machines at the rate of Rs. 14,50,000 per unit amounting to Rs. 290 lakhs and 20,000 nos of screening cartridges at the rate of 1340 per unit amounting to Rs. 268 lakhs as on date. He added that the machines were purchased through M/S Nature-O-Tech, 136 M.L Nehru Road, Pan Bazar Guwahati.

Rs. 193.40 cr sanctioned under NSDMA for 2019-2020:

Leader of the House and chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio stated that the total amount sanctioned under NSDMA for the year 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 was Rs. 142.07 crore and 193.40 crore respectively. He was replying to a starred question raised by opposition member Kuzholuzo Nienu

Replying on the nature of works that was undertaken in all 11 districts under NSDMA during 2019-2020, Rio informed that NSDMA carried out only immediate and emergency restorative works caused by natural calamity to infrastructure.

To query, Rio said NDSMA home department does not allocate funds district wise or constituency wise and that funds are released to the DDMAs based on occurrences of disaster events and reports received from the district.

Construction of NH 702

A: Deputy chief minister incharge R&B department, Y. He was replying to a starred question raised by opposition member Er. Picto on the steps taken by the government for NH road from Zunheboto to Mokokchung via Khisakita KPA Akuluto.

Patton also explained that currently PWD (NH) was maintaining the existing NH roads (single lane) from Zunheboto to Mokokchung (53 kms) via eastern alignment Akuluto-Aizuto-Awotsakili-Kitsakita in view of the shorter distance.

He also said that out of 53 kms, works for 19 km DIMAPUR: Taking note of grievances expressed by the students and parents to adopt online classes in the absence of teachers, the Chakhesang Students' Union (CSU) has reminded all the teachers under its jurisdiction to present themselves or on roster basis as per demand of students.

In a press release, CSU president Vetho Vadeo and general secretary, Avezo Kevin Kapu stated that, since lockdown most of the teachers had left the station with no remedial assistance to clarify doubts of students “on not only academic matters but also on how to use modern technologies to access online classes.”

While it is pertinent to supplement the recent show cause notice served by Thuvopisii village SMB with regards to the zero attendance of teaching faculty in schools, the CSU also requested respective units to be vigilant and report to Union in case of inconvenience in teaching learning process. Union also apprised the Education department that merely “giving notes and conducting online classes without checking teachers attendance and knowing stretch was on-going under periodical repair and letter of acceptance for strengthening of 10.46 km was issued on the ground reality of the students problem is a mockery to itself.”

CSU also stated that many students are deprived of online classes because of poor network connectivity, whereby it requested the cellular communication operator to deliver quality service in all areas and not to ignore the remote areas.

While CSU appreciated the department’s decision to provide free pen drive containing notes and lecture videos to students studying in government schools, it however pointed out that majority of the students do not posses smartphones, PC/laptop. In this regard, the Union has beseeched the department to provide hard copy notes for students who do not have such facilities.

CSU further urged educational institutions to be more cautious and follow Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in conducting offline exams (exception to those areas where there's no online facilities) and while distributing study materials to the students. It also thanked some schools and colleges for waiving off some amounts in admission

Pangnyu Phom asserted that a policy was adopted for the recruitment of nurses for the recently approved posts.

He also informed that the policy adopted for the recruitment was on the basis of the cabinet decision for filling up 50% of the newly created post from queue system of batchwise seniority. He said the remaining 50 % will be through direct recruitment and open competition.

ITC: Leader of the Hosue and chief minister Neiphiu Rio informed that an amount of Rs. 75,73,000 lakhs was released for construction of Anakhug ITC out of the total cost of the project of Rs. 94,73,000 lakhs. He was replying to a starred question raised by opposition MLA Yitachu.

Rio also informed that the works were carried ouf for construction of adminisK Y M C trative building, construction of guest house, construction of marketing shed, internal main and approach road and plot development and construction of guard house which was incomplete.

He said the reason for non release of the pending bill was due to non completion of the building of guard house and internal approach road/plot development by the concerned contractor.

2563 students: State Health minister S. Pangnyu Phom informed that as on July 23, a total of 22411 persons had returned to state through various means fo transport. Replying to a starred question raised by opposition member Imkong L Imchen on the status of number of returnees, Pangnyu said figures, based on the data-- “Iamstranded portal”, out of 22411 returnees, 15004 were professionals, 2563 are students and 688 others.

Kewhira Keba Thenüpfüko Krotho DC Zunheboto informs: Deputy commissioner of Zunheboto has notified that in order to facilitate the preparations for the upcoming 74th Independence Day, 2020 the total lockdown on Friday, August 14 will be relaxed. All the provisions under the order of the office of the DC dated August 1, 2020 shall continue to remain in force on all other days.

DC also informed that rate rechargeable for food at the quarantine centres has been fixed at the rate of Rs 400 per day per internee. There shall be separate charges for bottled water, 1 litre at Rs 20, an extra charge of Rs 50 per meal will be applicable for chicken/fish/pork/beef/egg curry, subject to availability. Internees shall have to inform in advance the requirement for packaged water bottles or any extra curry. All payments will have to be made in advance at the time of registering into the quarantine facility.

F&CS Kohima informs: Department of Food & Civil Supplies (F&CS) Kohima, assistant director Ipetdaung Lungaland has informed to all the FPS/village councils of Kohima centre that the PMGKAY food-grains will be released from August 17 onwards between 10.30 a.m to 4 p.m. The concerned FPS/village councils have been directed to collect their respective quota within the stipulated date: Kezo Circle and Phesama village on August 17; Jakha Circle August 18; Kohima Sadar, Meriema, Tsiese Basa Bawe, Thizama and Rusoma August 19; Sechü Circle August 20; Kohima town Ward 1 to 7, August 21; Kohima town Ward 8 to 13, August 24; Kohima town Ward 14 to 19, August 25. The concerned FPS/village councils are directed to note the scheduled dates and collect their respective quota accordingly.
