Background
SOUTH SUMATRA HOSTED THE 25TH ASTC ASIA TRIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIP ON JULY 21-23 AT JAKABARING SPORT CITY (JSC). THE EVENT WAS ONCE USED AS A TEST OF THE 2018 ASIAN GAMES EVENT . ALTHOUGH USED AS A TEST EVENT AT ONCE, JSC DID NOT GET THIS OPPORTUNITY WITH EASE. JSC HAD TO COMPETE FIRST WITH KAZAKHSTAN WHO ALSO RAN FOR THE HOST. JSC CAN WIN THE VOTE IN JAPAN BECAUSE IT HAS A SPORTS AREA IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY AND SUMSELÂ HAS A LONG EXPERIENCE HELD 37 WORLDCLASS SPORTING EVENTS.

ASTC ? ASTC 2017 Asian Triathlon Championship is a race event where there are three sports in the race that is swimming, bike, and run. In this event participants are required to follow the three branches of the race at once in one race.

where you know about this event ? WHY YOU APPLYING AS AN LO ? Previously I had never heard of this ASTC before. At one time my friend from the another organization told me of the selection as a liaison officer in this event. Knowing the job desk to become an LO is a very interesting, so I intend to apply for selection of LO ASTC 2017. Apart from its challenging job description , as for being a liaison Officer we will be able to interact with people abroad, improve our English language skills, sharing culture, expand networking, and also trained to be solution oriented.Â

any another opportunity ? THANKS FOR THAT CHANCE ! On the next day after registering I turned out to be one of the students who were given the opportunity by the vice rector 3 from Sriwijaya University to be able to select the applicant LO ASTC from UNSRI. From 120 registrants, finally me and my friend managed to select LO from Sriwijaya University many as 30 people including me and my friend. The selection process must be detailed to decrease gaps and injustice. Then, after going through the selection process, in the evening I told my friend that tomorrow morning there will be a morning ceremony to inaugurate all the committees involved in the ASTC 2017 event.Â

First day
BEING AN LO ASTC 2017
Morning bright with the sun, formal uniform and red tie so faulthlessly, liaison officer from Sriwijaya University can meet directly with liaison officer from Tourism Polytechnic of South Sumatera. The list of countries and partners LO has been distributed, it turns out I got the State of Uzbekistan and my partner Muhammad Fikri Wahyu. So, tired for first day because we start at 6 AM till 12 AM at the tomorrow. my energy has been decreased. but, I tried to keep smile and spirit for tomorrow, and always be commitment "tomorrow will be mine".

any obstacle being an LO for Uzbekistan ? In the afternoon, my partner and I met to get acquainted with athletes and delegates from Uzbekistan, but there were obstacles from language, they could not use English. In the end google translate is very useful for us to communicate.
HOW YOUR FEELING BEING
LIAISON OFFICER?
It is not difficult being a liaison officer for Uzbekistan because they are individualist, so they do their own activities without the need for LO assistance. However, there are something that also they need our help as LO Uzbekistan, for example, money changer, race information, and small equipment for the race.Â

get some unique experience It has been a week finally athlete from Uzbekistan contacted me to be accompanied to the Palembang Indah mall. I guess they do not know where the PIM is, it turns out they have very often there and being theirself. Just imagine those who stay at the Daira hotel walk to Palembang Indah Mall, how far for us as Palembang citizens themselves, but they do it already very often and no problem for them.

So, as a liaison officer at the ASTC Asian Triathlon Championship 2017 provides a lot of knowledge about culture, habit, and open my mind about the another country in world. In addition to increase experience, being an LO we will get worldwide networking, feeling living diversity, and being solved problem. Its good to upgrading our capabilities and our provision of the future.
As a liaison officer at the ASTC Asian Triathlon Championship 2017 you must give your best to help participant with your heart and your soul. don't do something to get something, but do something that to make them easier. and one more important is "SMILE" every single thing you do.
