What Makes Our Adolescents Program Unique?

Clinical Each PACIFIC QUEST student receives weekly individual, and group therapy by highly experienced, Masters or Ph.D. level therapists. Therapists join their students in the field twice per week at the beginning and end of each week (different than most wilderness programs where standard practice is one hour per week). Additionally, students participate in a minimum of two therapist-facilitated groups per week. Therapists communicate with parents via one-hour conference calls each week, providing comprehensive updates along with written assignments designed to further

support the child’s progress. Therapists also communicate extensively with Educational Consultants and home professionals to keep them apprised of the student’s progress. Medication Management is over seen by an on-staff psychiatrist and two full-time N.D. physicians. PACIFIC QUEST employs a Psychiatrist and full-time N.D. Psychological testing is available on site and can be provided for an additional fee.

Wellness In addition to our sophisticated clinical model, PACIFIC QUEST offers a unique, holistic approach to healing. Our Medical Director creates an individualized, personal Wellness Plan for each incoming student. PACIFIC QUEST teaches healthy, sustainable habits covering diet, exercise, sleep, stress reduction, hygiene and personal responsibility. A rich and varied, organic diet is introduced along with the re-establishment of healthy sleep cycles and balanced exercise. Students learn about the connection between their health and their emotions.

PACIFIC QUEST’s Wellness Department includes a doctor, a full-time registered nurse, a medical coordinator and a full-time EMT. Additionally, many senior staff members hold current First Responder certiďŹ cations and have extensive training in industrysafe practices for outdoor programming. PACIFIC QUEST can accommodate a variety of diets (including but not limited to: vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free).

Sustainable Growth™ Model • Students participate in outdoor programming on seven acres of organic farmland and a three-acre retreat; yet sleep in a secure dormitory monitored by awake staff, all evening. • Base camp model allows students to cultivate a strong connection to their environment by creating group and individual land projects serving the whole community.

• Students have multiple, daily therapeutic interactions with clinicians and staff, not simply during therapy sessions. • Students receive individual and group therapy multiple times per week (different than most wilderness therapy programs where the standard is once per week).

• PACIFIC QUEST immerses students in a community living experience, mirroring a family system, giving students an opportunity to practice relevant and essential life skills. • Through Horticultural Therapy, students work in an environment rich in metaphor, allowing them to understand and master sustainable (personal) growth through gardening.
