Warm Salutations My Adored Sorors,

Sisterhood month has come and gone but we know that we celebrate Sisterhood 365. Therefore, as we bask in the beauty of spring, with its melodic bird songs and vibrant blossoms, let us also continue to revel in the joy of sisterhood. For many sorors, this month/spring season denotes a time for celebrating Deltaversaries as well as a time for sharing in the joy and excitement of our friends and family as they cross into Deltaland.

Whether commemorating years of sisterhood or extending a warm welcome to new sorors, let us infuse each moment with the same unwavering enthusiasm for our beloved sorority. Let us not forget to express gratitude for the unwavering support and guidance we received and continue to receive from our sorors who came before us. Their wisdom and dedication serve as beacons of inspiration for us all, illuminating the path forward with strength and grace.

As we continue reflecting on our shared journey and the values that bind us together, sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social action let us remain steadfast in making a positive impact in our communities. Together, may our voices rise in harmony like the morning chorus of birds, may our smiles radiate the splendor of blooming flowers, and may our connection be as comforting as the embrace of a gentle spring day.

Yours in Sisterly Love, Gardenella Green, PhD

Happy Spring Sorors!

With great joy, I welcome you to this season of renewal and growth within our sisterhood. Spring brings with it a sense of rejuvenation, a time to shed the old and embrace the new, reminding us of the beauty of change and the promise of brighter days ahead.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." This season of spring signifies the cycles of life, offering us the chance to let go of the past and embrace new beginnings.

I am thrilled to announce our upcoming Program, Planning, and Development activities for April. Join the Economic Development Committee for The W.I.R.E. Series Part II: "So You Want to Be an Entrepreneur?" as we explore the paths to success in the world of entrepreneurship. Additionally, mark your calendars for the NAC Blood Drive on April 20, 2024, at the YMCA on Granby Street, where we can give back to our community and make a meaningful impact together.

Let's embrace this season of growth and sisterhood as we support one another. Together, we can inspire, empower, and thrive.

With Sisterly Love, Soror Krystal Blue-Brown

My Sisters, My Sisters … Let us enter April with the lingering spirit of Resurrection Sunday in our souls. It is my fervent prayer that we are forever led by the unconditional love of Christ and that we honor Him with a grateful heart and an optimistic spirit as we serve others. May the Joy of the Lord continue to be our strength in all that we say and all that we do. From the rising of the sun until the going down of the same, let the world know that our God is worthy to be praised.

Arts and Letters

Our first Little Free Library is in!

It was installed at Ingleside Elementary School on March 13. The second LFL is scheduled to be installed at Chesterfield Academy on April 10th. The boxes were built by students at Tidewater Tech for Friends of Norfolk Public Library. They were gifted to Norfolk Alumnae and installed by NPS Technical Center. Art work has been designed by artist Trevor Lucas. The design will be painted on by Norfolk Alumnae Sorors. A celebration and "unveiling" is scheduled for early April.

Sorors, now the work begins. Norfolk Alumnae is "steward" of the boxes which means we must maintain them and keep a good selection of books in them. The desired age range for books is Pre K to young adult. Please bring new and gently used books to the April, May and June sorority meetings or contact Soror Amy Johnson to arrange pick-up or delivery.

Delta Arts in the School Performance

On March 8th the final Delta Arts in the School performance, for this year, was held at PB Young, Sr. Elementary School. Following the performance sorors took pictures with musicians Michael Daniels and George Corbett, Principal Candiase Driver and staff members from VSO, Nikki Thorpe and Heather Nevins. Also pictured are the musicians with students.

This program introduces students to two (2) instruments of the orchestra as musicians describe the parts of their instruments and the function of each part they also play short pieces to demonstrate. The committee provided each student with a program folder. The folders reinforce what was taught about the instruments. In addition they contain word games and questions to encourage reading and literacy.

Other performances were held at Chesterfield Academy and Ingleside Elementary. All performances were enthusiastically received by students and teachers. Principals expressed a desire to have us return.
