A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO
Leading and Learning Together.
NAAE experienced solid growth and development in 2022. Our NAAE Board of Directors grew by one as we added the Past President as an ex-officio voting member. We experienced a record number of state early career, XLR8 and Agriscience Inquiry Institutes and programs as our profession continued to show the value it places on professional development and the pursuit of lifelong learning. We ended the year on a high note as our NAAE convention boasted record attendance, with 1,091 educators and stakeholders convening in Las Vegas.
A new look for NAAE was released with our new brand on March 7, 2022. Although our look has been updated, I can assure our membership that our focus remains the same – to support agricultural educators at every age and every stage. Our over 50 current programs and opportunities for members continue to be aimed at investing in our greatest asset; agricultural educators. NAAE programs are centered around the three strategic pillars that guide our organization and keep us grounded to our purpose: advocacy to ensure the growth and support for agricultural education programs, advancement through professional development, and agricultural educator recruitment, retention, and recognition. This annual report only hits some of the highlights of our year. However, it shares our strong commitment as we work to meet agricultural educators where they are. We have and will continue to support their role in cultivating the next generation of leaders, problem solvers, entrepreneurs, and agriculturalists.

FROM OUR MEMBERS
National Agriscience Teacher Ambassador Academy Regional Meetings Teachers Turn
The Key
22 NAAE members from 19 states participated in the 2022 NATA Academy, bringing science-based inquiry learning to 11,248 students.
“I am looking forward to moving that question that students always ask of ‘is this right?’ or ‘did I do it right?’ to them asking at the end of the lab ‘well what if I did this?’ or ‘what if I try this?’ and really asking better questions than if they are right.”
- Kayla Pohle, PANAAE hosted 6 regional meetings across the country, attended by more than 700 agricultural educators.

“Attending our regional conference allowed me the opportunity to connect and collaborate with other agricultural educators, learn more about NAAE opportunities, and continue to learn and grow with other NAAE members through industry tours and professional development sessions.”
-Melanie Block, MI34 early career teachers participated in the Teachers Turn the Key program, earning 408 hours of professional development at the 2022 NAAE Convention.

“The Teachers Turn the Key Program was a breath of fresh air that helped me remember my ‘why’ and reinvigorated the excitement I had when I first began teaching.”
-Bret Kindall, ID
NAAE hosted 22 participants from 18 states in the National XLR8 cohort, and facilitated state-level events for 60 participants.
“This program came at the right time in my career where I was feeling burnt out even though I feel like I have it figured out. XLR8 was rejuvenating and provided solutions I have implemented in my life.”
-2022 XLR8 Participant
NAAE distributed 100 Honorarium Packages to NAAE members for Teacher Appreciation Week. 688 nominations were submitted by students, parents, and community members.

“My child’s agriculture teacher has a passionate drive for wanting his students to succeed. He truly recognizes the responsibility he has as an educator and knows the impact he has on students that helps them to become valuable members of our community.”
-2022 Nominator
118 My Local Cooperative Co-Op in-a-box Teacher Kits were distributed.
37 support grants were awarded, providing educators with funds to purchase materials to teach about cooperatives and/or conduct a cooperative site visit.
5,454 estimated students were impacted by the My Local Cooperative Curriculum and Grant Program.
