3. Feature & Benefit High Efficiency, High Reliability The CWW® series is a kind of water-cooled spray screw chiller produced by LGE Corporation. Because of the special structure design, the chiller has high efficiency and high reliability.

Compressor • Semi-hermetical twin-rotor screw compressor. • Direct-drive, low speed/RPM for high efficiency and high reliability. • Only three moving parts, resulting in high reliability with simple solution. • Field serviceable compressor and providing easy maintenance. • Precise rotor tip clearance. • The world’s advanced patent screw tooth with low noise, smooth operation long life advantages. • A refrigerant dispersing cooling device is set internal compressor motor cooling use return- refrigerant cooling. • Years of research and testing. The LG Air-cooled screw chiller has amassed thousands of hours of testing, and conditions beyond normal air conditioning applications.

Optimized Dedicated Motor for R-134a with High Efficiency Made of premium grade, low-loss core steel with the special slot design, the motors of R-134a dedicated compressors can gain the highest efficiency with lower power consumption. Besides, different winding for specific voltage and frequency requirement contributes to the best power factor and excellent performance.

Constructional Design of Dedicated Screw Compressor The screw compressors are characterized by a very compact design. Most of inner dimensions have been totally modified considering displacement volume, size of compression chamber, length & profile of rotors, oil separator specification and oil piping rearrangement, etc. to ensure consistency and cost effectiveness of the compressors.

3. Feature & Benefit Compression process As shown in picture below, during rotation of the rotors the meshing shifts from the suction side to the discharge side. The meshing rotors enclose a working space, which is continuously reduced as it moves in the axial direction. This causes a V-shaped lobe space to form between each of the male and female lobes. This lobe space increases to a maximum size (suction and sealing process). As the rotors rotate further, the new meshing on the suction side closes the V-shaped lobe space. The lobe space is then constantly reduced by continuing intermeshing of the lobes (compression process). The reduction in lobe space takes place on the lower side of the rotors towards the discharge side. The volume is steadily reduced and it is thereby compressed in the sealed condition. As soon as the peaks of the rotor teeth are free to the outlet port, the vapor is discharge to the high-pressure side and flows to the oil separator where the high-pressure gas will be separated from the lubrication oil. The size and geometry of the discharge port determine the so called “internal volume ratio (Vi)” of the compressor. This ratio must have a defined relationship to operating pressure ratio to avoid losses in efficiency due to under or over compression.

Unit Performance Testing LG began promoting factory performance tests for air-cooled chillers and water-cooled chillers, to show we stand behind the products we design and build. The benefits of a performance test include verification of performance, prevention of operational problems, and assurance of a smooth start-up. Only a performance test conducted in a laboratory or laboratory grade facility will confirm both performance and operation of a specific chiller. While most factory performance tests go smoothly, should problems occur, LG personnel can quickly correct them and the chiller will ship as specified. Job site diagnosis, ordering of parts, and waiting for delivery of replacement components is significantly reduced. When a factory performance test is requested, the test can be conducted at the specified, design conditions. The test facility has the capability to control ambient test conditions to assure our customers that our chillers will perform as predicted.

3. Feature & Benefit Options - Feature and Benefits High entering condenser water temperature Option • The High entering condenser water temperature option consists of special control logic to permit High entering condenser water temperature (up to 95°F/36°C) operation. • This option offers the best performance when coupled with the high efficiency performance option. Low chilled-water Option • The Low chilled-water option consists of special control logic to permit Low chilled-water (-4°F~40°F(-20°C~4°C) ) operation. • This option offers the best performance when coupled with the high efficiency performance option. Wye-Delta Compressor Start Type • For low inrush current and reduced starting torque. Suction Service Valves • Provides a service valve on the suction line of each refrigerant circuit to facilitate compressor servicing. Flow Switch • Supplied separately to be wired and installed on the evaporator water piping Spring Type Isolators • These are positioned under the base of the unit during installation. Ideal for dampening vibrations for installation on roofs and metallic structures.

4. Controls Unit controls of the LGE air cooled screw chiller shall include following benefits and features.

Adaptive Chiller Control and Higher Level Protection. The latest chiller control technologies provide enhanced operations of the chiller. The chiller control system is based on recent PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) technology. Because the PLC is designed to be compatible with several electromagnetic interference and also compatible with severe ambient conditions, the unit has reliable controllability in any conditions. The adaptive chiller control is designed to operate the unit to withstand sever conditions and maintain its operation. Good examples are capacity override controls in case of high chilled water temperature.. Along with the adaptive control, the control also provides higher level protection through multiple protective devices. For example triple protective devices are used for the detection of abnormal oil circulation. The control system continues to monitor the hazardous conditions of the unit, and shutdown the unit to protect the unit safely when any condition meets safety limit.

Rich Human Machine Interface Human machine interface based on touch panel provides easiness to control and to monitor the chiller. The interface shall include operation conditions of the unit, control outputs, and alarm encountered. All interface menus are well organized and easy to access through the touch-based interfaces

Seamless Power Supply Monitoring Superior power supply monitoring function of the control system is enabled by protective function of it against high voltage, low voltage, power loss, phase reverse, and phase imbalance. The superior function of safe power supply to the unit is provided by standard.

Standard Wye-delta Start Type and Optional Soft Start Type The wye-delta start provides reduced starting current by 1/3. The LGE chiller is equipped with the wye-delta start of the compressor. Optionally, soft start type shall be provided for soft start of the compressor by linear voltage increase.

Standard MODBUS Connectivity and Optional BACnet and LonWorks Connectivity. The control system of the LGE chiller provides measure to be integrated in modern BMS system seamlessly. Because the control system provides MODBUS connectivity by standard no additional cost for the BMS integration is needed for the system integration based on the MODBUS. Specially, BACnet or LonWorks can be applied to the system on the request of customer by option.

16. Guide Specifications GENERAL • LG RCWW series is water cooled type liquid screw chiller. • Each RCWW series chiller will be factory-assembled including compressor, motor, evaporator, condenser, control box and all interconnecting unit piping, wiring completely. • The initial charge of refrigerant HFC-134a and oil will be supplied for all units.

Refrigeration Circuit • The unit has one refrigeration circuit or two refrigeration circuits, with one rotary screw compressor per circuit. • The refrigeration circuit includes condenser out temperature sensor, high & low pressure switch, discharge temp, switch, discharge temp. sensor, oil level sight glass, oil heater, check valve, ref. sol valve, ref. valve, oil filter, dryer, charging port.

TWIN-SCREW COMPRESSOR • Compressor and electric· motor are installed in the same shell, which is connected with flange therefore there is no leakage but feature of easy Maintenance compared to open type compressor. • The efficiency of shaft is high for making the motor shaft and male rotor of twin-screw compressor together. There are some characteristics to twin-screw compressor as follows: smooth operation, low noise, small vibration, long lifetime and little repair cost. • The rotor housing is made of high strength gray cast iron FC-25. • The liquid injection shall be used in order to get high EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio) also at high condensing pressure and low sound pressure levels in each load condition. • Refrigerant system differential pressure shall provide oil flow through service replaceable, 10 micron, full flow, and cartridge type oil filter internal to compressor. Refrigerant system differential pressure shall provide liquid injection on all moving compressor parts to correctly lubricate them. • The compressor's oil cooling must be realized, when necessary, by liquid injection. External dedicated heat exchanger (flash gas tank) and additional piping to carry the oil from the compressor to heat exchanger (flash gas tank) and vice versa will be not accepted. • The compressor shall be provided with an integrated, high efficiency, oil separator and with built-in oil filter. • The compressor casing shall be provided with ports to realize economized refrigerant cycles. • Shall be present two thermal protection realized by a thermostat for high temperature protection: one temperature sensor to protect motor and another sensor to protect unit and lubricating oil from high discharge gas temperature.

CONTROL ELEMENT OF REFRIGERANT FLOW • Orifice is used as throttle valve and control device on the spray-type water cooling chiller. Orifices specially designed according to compressor and unit; therefore, it can match the unit performance best • There are 2~3 orifices in the group of throttle device, the first one is used to finish liquid seal, the second and third one will be used to drop pressure and refrigerant's dynamic balance can adjust the flow in order to ensure the unit credibility operating with high A: when unit is running on full load, liquid-column height is H, the static pressure will push refrigerant from the first orifice to the second orifice B. when unit is running on half-load liquid-column height is H/4, the refrigerant through the first orifice will be half, because of insufficient static pressure, there will be flashing between two orifices for variable pressure difference, therefore, refrigerant flow through the second orifice will be half as liquid refrigerant with lots of flashing gas

16. Guide Specifications SPRAY EJECTOR The ejector pump is used to return oil on water cooling chiller with which low-pressure oil can be returned without energy loss.

SPRAY-TYPE EVAPORATOR The evaporator is shell and tube heat exchanger, the special internal structure will make liquid refrigerant spray on the outer wall of heat exchanger tube which will achieve high heat transfer efficiency the evaporator temperature is 5.4~7.2°F(3~4°C) higher than dry-type evaporator, the designed pressure of the evaporator is 145psig(1.0MPa.) The Evaporator is designed and tested in accordance with ASME. The shell is insulated 3/4inch insulation (K=0.26).

CONDENSER Condenser is shell and tube heat exchanger ,the special internal structure refreshed original condenser, which can make condensation temperature be 1.8~3.6°F(1~2°C) lower than that of general units, the designed pressure of condenser is 145psig(1.0MPa.) The Evaporator is designed and tested in accordance with ASME.

OIL SEPARATOR Oil separator range is filter-type oil separator, its structure is very simple, however, the ratio of oil and circulated refrigerant's less than 0.05% when separated.

ECONOMIZER AND REGENERATOR The mid-pressure saturation flashing gas and liquid refrigerant are separated by economizer, saturation flashing gas enter compressor to join two-stage compression, which can increase the unit efficiency, the separated midpressure saturation liquid refrigerant will be super-cooled by heat exchanger in regenerator then the pressure of refrigerant will be dropped by throttling, these can improve the unit's efficiency effectively. The heat exchanger (evaporator, condenser) and reservoir are manufactured and checked according to national standards. LGE Corporation will supply complete information about pressure vessel when units are for sale.

UNIT CONTROL Unit controls of the LGE water cooled screw chiller shall include following benefits and features.

Adaptive Chiller Control and Higher Level Protection. • The latest chiller control technologies provide enhanced operations of the chiller. The chiller control system is based on recent PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) technology. Because the PLC is designed to be compatible with several electromagnetic interferences and also compatible with severe ambient conditions, the unit has reliable controllability in any conditions. • The adaptive chiller control is designed to operate the unit to withstand sever conditions and maintain its operation. • Along with the adaptive control, the control also provides higher level protection through multiple protective devices. For example triple protective devices are used for the detection of abnormal oil circulation. The control system continues to monitor the hazardous conditions of the unit, and shutdown the unit to protect the unit safely when any condition meets safety limit.

16. Guide Specifications Rich Human Machine Interface • Touch panel based user interface provides rich human machine interface. The interface shall include operation conditions of the unit, control outputs, and alarm encountered. Through the interface, operator-friendly interface is achieved for the easy control of the LGE chiller.

Seamless Power Supply Monitoring • Superior power supply monitoring function of the control system is enabled by protective function of it against high voltage, low voltage, power loss, phase reverse, and phase imbalance. The superior function of safe power supply to the unit is provided by standard.

Standard Wye-delta Start Type and Optional Soft Start Type • The wye-delta start provides reduced starting current by 1/3. The LGE chiller is equipped with the wye-delta start of the compressor. Optionally, soft start type shall be provided for soft start of the compressor by linear voltage increase.

Standard MODBUS Connectivity and Optional BACnet and LonWorks Connectivity. • The control system of the LGE chiller provides measure to be integrated in modern BMS system seamlessly. Because the control system provides MODBUS connectivity by standard no additional cost for the BMS integration is needed for the system integration based on the MODBUS. Specially, BACnet or LonWorks can be applied to the system on the request of customer by option.

Versatile Options Satisfying Customer’s Requirements. • Circuit breaker for individual compressor. • Non-fused power disconnect switch • Capacitor for power factor correction • Single point power connection • Chiller plant controller with remote user interface
